    Clutch stuck 300 tdi

Hi sharing a quick update. It turned out to be a an issue with the master cylinder ( original Lockheed) and not being able to handle the additional pressure. I replaced with an AP OEM and seems to work. There is also significant drag on the gearbox so testing without the transfer case and props...

    Clutch stuck 300 tdi

Thanks for the help so far. Will probably end up pulling the gearbox and report back. I suspect either the pilot bush too tight or master cylinder not up to the task.

    Clutch stuck 300 tdi

Thank for the additional context, that makes sense to me. It would isolate if its an issue with the hydraulics or length of rod vs binding. Will try it, maybe with a c clamp and a piece of wood. I have probably a few cm of free float before the fork touches the release bearing.

    Clutch stuck 300 tdi

Thanks for the suggestions. The clutch plate is the 300 TDI one. It's possible the shaft is getting stuck in the pilot bearing. It was pretty tight initially and it was pretty difficult to fit the engine into the bellhousing. I like the suggestion to push the fork manually, I can try that to...

    Clutch stuck 300 tdi

Thanks. The LoF clutch plate can't easily be installed the wrong way for to the shape. Pretty sure it's installed correctly.

    Clutch stuck 300 tdi

Hi everyone, I have very odd clutch behavior. I recently did a VM to 300 TDI swap on a 91 RRC . I replaced the clutch with Powerspec from LOF, new throw out bearing, reinforced fork, 300 TDI rod, pilot bush and slave cylinder. I installed a new clutch line from pioneer. Have bled the clutch and...

Classic VM 2.5 to 200tdi swap - LT77 bell housing

That's what I've found as well. The input shaft is different. However I don't know if it's just diameter or also length. Ideally I can reuse the VM LT77 as finding a discovery one here is tricky.

Classic VM 2.5 to 200tdi swap - LT77 bell housing

Thanks! I will be converting it myself with support from a shop. I don't have confidence in the VM and the estimate only includes the top end heads, cylinders, rings etc. with pistons and any bottom end work cost/benefit doesn't make sense.

Classic VM 2.5 to 200tdi swap - LT77 bell housing

Thank you. I've decided to go with 200 tdi so no more VM. To rebuild is $2500 + labor so it doesn't make sense. I looked up on Ashcroft and a special spigot bush and clutch friction plate, STC1166 and However it's not clear it a new bell housing is needed or not? Thank you!

Classic VM 2.5 to 200tdi swap - LT77 bell housing

Hi All, I recently pulled apart my VM on 1991 RRC and it's in a very sorry condition 😢. All parts are extremely worn and have decided to scrap it for a 200 tdi due to part cost and reliability. I have a 200 tdi from a defender with radiator, intercooler etc. However I want to know if the LT77...

Advice needed for fixing a VM 2.5

It rattles around. Initially was popping off when the crankcase vent was clogged. I unclogged it and added a catch can, which catches some oil with routing back to the air filter.

Advice needed for fixing a VM 2.5

Hi Guys, I have a VM 2.5 in a Range Rover with approx 230K km. It's loud, has blowby and a lot of vibration at idle. It can be hard to start ( 5-7 seconds) and when it does it doesn't run smoothly and smokes until it's warmed up. Because the engine was overheating previously, I flushed the...
