Changing the clutch, flywheel got a bit hot

Must say it have seen worse on VWs. As long as the flywheel springs are still good and no slack would probably be ok. That said having don't the job I wouldn't want to do it again in a hurry so if you can afford it a new one would make sense. I took the gamble when I did mine and it's been fine.

    Tyres!

I have barum tyres, they are made by continental and have a good number of ridges for mud and snow. Sort of middle price range and so far doing a sterling job.

    freelander 1 jatco fluid problem

Oh and don't loose the wrong nut as one on the back is a retaining nut for the internal brake band (or similar)

    Front hub nut ,any ideas???

They are about the tightest thing on this here earth! Don't really need to be so tight when doing them back up either! I just kept trying with a 4ft bar and snapped one in the process but go there in the end. Failing that have a garage loosen the nut with gun / bar then drive home and finish the job

    rover 75 injectors or freelander?

Interesting to have conformation of my findings! I did look at swapping the nozzles but they are also slightly internally different.

    rover 75 injectors or freelander?

I have tried this, with a mix of the 2 types the engine does run and the car does drive but IMO the car didn't feel right, a tiny bit sluggish. With all 030s or all 0049s it felt more normal. Could have just been in my head the sluggishness however!

Its true Freelander like going off road.

It's basically nonsense from people that have never driven a freelander when you hear they can't go off road! I have had many LRs and the freelander keeps up with the best of them! Ok ground clearance could be better but good tyres and good driving wins the day :)

    Wheel width for M+S

I normally run good at tyres which carry the m+a rating all year round with no problems. I have never had an issue even with the episodes of uber snow a few years back. Whilst in America where the winters are a lot lot worse full winter tyres did prove useful but good AT tyres have always been...

    undergeared lander

1.8 box does not fit a td4 iirc. I always feel that td4s are wrongly geared. With 15 inch wheels and 195 80 15 tyres mine does about 2900 at 70 but the rev counter is a but variable so could be up to 3100. It's ok but you can't comfortably go much faster in my opinion

    texaco lubricants

You can get mtf 94 from GSF or eBay. I have used other oils but always found that the box felt better with mtf94. Ird and diff wise any meeting the spec should be fine mineral or synth. I normally go for a semi ;)

    wobble

To be honest only GKN / LR have proved any good for me.

    Fuel filter strange Oring

I never did really find out, the filter I had didn't really have a recess on top that suggested it needed the additional o ring. Let us know what the second filter is like?

    wobble

Off it still does it without the prop I would start looking at the inner joints on the drive shafts. Sounds like it's a FL1 TD4? I have had a similar issue that unlike tyre wobble was not present at a constant speed but there during acceleration/deceleration. Only way I fixed this was with a...

    cv rubber boot

Inner or outer boot? The inner ones need special LR boots that are specially shaped. Jobs not to hard but it is a pain! The hub nuts are always stupid tight and the drive shafts can be a pain to 'pop' out if it's the inner. If it's the outer plenty if pulling the hub whilst pushing shaft back...

    Striped gearbox drain plug hole!

Well it's done! Decided that a bodge wasn't going to cut it so I went the whole hog. First I dropped the subframe for access Then I drilled it with an 18mm drill to enlarge the hole Next I got an m20x1.5 tap and re threaded the hole (took a bit of time as I should have used an 18.5mm drill...

    Striped gearbox drain plug hole!

Well I have ordered a whole host of stuff including your recommended plugs. I have also ordered a tap set and a aluminium braising repair kit in case I decide to just patch over it. I can always fit a second drain plug on the patch. Hopefully the repair will last until the weekend then I will...

    Striped gearbox drain plug hole!

Any one used this kit? Looks like wit would work with a aluminium patch to seal over the hole? http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/aluminium-repair-starter-kit
