    Stiff power steering.

Seem VCU is likely then as stiff steering alone would not hold the car on a hill

    Freelander aux belt pretensioner

Which freelander do you have? Td4 it's a 30 min job.

Roverron box l series worth it?

You can make something that does the same job cheaply, Google rover l series tuning. That plus turning up the boost a bit will make the car much better.

What have you done to your Freelander today

A spot of green laning. :) Went for some gentle green laning and ended up running some heavily rutted, muddy and fairly extreme lanes - both the FL and RR did a fantastic job. FL could have done with a bit of a lift in some of the ruts but if you just ignore the scraping sounds it's fine...

    Little lane trip in Northumberland

Went for some gentle green laning and ended up running some heavily rutted, muddy and fairly extreme lanes - both the FL and RR did a fantastic job. FL could have done with a bit of a lift in some of the ruts but if you just ignore the scraping sounds it's fine.... :) Some of the poorest...

    Front Driveshaft Replacement

Second that! Only use a hex. Crap design from LR as usual and done up to an ungodly torque! Bit like the hub but! Let us know how you get on

    Front Driveshaft Replacement

Not sure how rave says to do it but that's how I do it, done it about 6 times now. You will be fine just be careful. Worth mentioning that you may want to make sure the filler plug opens on the ird as its a crap short headed bolt and it's at a poor angle for access. Ird uses 75w90 something...

    My 2006 TD4 Auto HSE

Seeing one the same colour as mine with the lift makes me want to get my ass in to gear and lift mine! Is yours 40mm? P.s I mean the red not the muck ;)

    Front Driveshaft Replacement

The drive shaft 'pops' out of the gearbox/ird side. There is a special tool but a ball joint splitting folk can be used if the prongs start thin enough. When wedging the tool between the box and the shaft joint be careful not to damage the seal. You can manhandle the shaft out of the hub if...

    Td4? Poor alt placement on a td4!

TD4 facelift - occasional 'pinking' & cloud of smoke

So do later td4s not have the in tank pump? I thought that they all had?
  14. R

    immobiliser problem or something else?

Don't think so, there should be a pump in the tank (lift pump), a pump under the wheel arch in later cars or in the engine bay (low pressure pump) and a mechanical pump on the engine (high pressure pump). [/b] EDIT - I'm told that the later td4 only has 2 pumps, the one under the wheel arch and...

    Vibration

Have your bearings failed? If the vibration is bad may be worth replacing asap. Still can't see how this would stop abs, etc from working. What year is your car?
  16. R

    Vibration

Not likely, that said it's unlikely that the VCU would vibrate?
  17. R

    immobiliser problem or something else?

Does it sound the same hot an cold? If so unlikely to be the issue. There is also another pump in the tank which you can listen to to make sure it appears to work.
  18. R

    immobiliser problem or something else?

Hot start problem is likely the injectors and the beep is just an indication that the fob battery is low I reckon

    gearbox

Which diesel? Think it may fit on an l series but Defoe not at td4
