    No, I haven't given up!

over the last 4 years I've had stints of not working on it that last longer than the time i've actually worked on it.

    Dash renovation

Just work around the screws. I think start with the lower part. There's a plastic trim in the dash tray that you need to remove before trying to remove the main part. Just be carfeull of wiring and any screws you missed before you pull it

    Dash renovation

Yeah apparently they do. I messaged and asked. Weird that they don't show the photos or mention it. I was really interesting in the set but they're sold separately and cost a fortune to finish the whole dash in the same style.

    Dash renovation

I've done some work on mine recently, i cut out and replaced the knackered metal with some shoddy welds. its now got a lot more strength and rigidity, and hopefully will last the lifetime i have the landy. the vinyl comes off in one piece and was really easy to refit after repairing the metal. a...

Series 3 Upgrading to Vaccumn/servo brakes

Mine doesn't have a suitable throttle for this, so this is the route i will look into, i'll keep a lookout for a suitable pump. I saw a mention of fitting 11" brakes, is it necessary because of the increased power or does it not matter too much outside of better stopping. disc would be lovely...

Series 3 Upgrading to Vaccumn/servo brakes

Cheers. I'm only looking for pointers. I'm fitting brakes regardless, but I'm trying to build up some research on improvement options. If I went down the vac pump route are there variations in the supply that matter or minimum / maximum ratings on the pump that need to be considered? Don't...

Series 3 Upgrading to Vaccumn/servo brakes

Hi all, I'm looking at upgrading the single line brakes on my 88 to duel line with a servo. I've found the parts for a second hand servo pedal from (i think) a 109. parts include the pedal box & servo, master cylinder and a tank. Photo of parts Who do i get the vacuum supply to run it? engine...

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

cheers, i was weary of the gearbox, which is why it took so long, in the end i went very slowly and carefully, and just followed the handbook. luckily things inside were pretty good and i only replaced a few bearings. fingers crossed it will all be ok. i'm still a fan of the colour, its sadly...

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

Hah that would have been amazing! slow progress again in the last few months. a few small odd jobs done, too much to go into details today, maybe soon. Current big thing is purchasing a new set of wiring from autosparks. anyone got any pointers or experience with this? I'm costing what i need...

    New rear crossmember

the big big hole is for a PTO shaft, the ones at the side of for steps or handles. i think the nuts are either for a tow plate strengthener or maybe for PTO accessories the rest are for whatever you want. the flaky holes are just rust

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

i wish. I've got all the electrics to do, there was so much bodging in originally and we had so much trouble removing it, that a lot of the dash was damaged. so I'm going for a full rewire, i am planning to get an autosparks loom with wiring for some of the future extras i would like, as i just...

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

We finished up on sunday, we took the flywheel off to try and work out the dial gauge reading problems. we rubbed down and cleaned the crank end and the back of the flywheel where it mates up, and then gave the front face a gentle rub and a spray of clutch cleaner, the readings came down the...

1975 series 3 rebuild ongoing (lots of photos)

so, i have set the bank holiday weekend aside for getting the gearbox back in. I bought an engine crane last week, pretty much the cheapest i could get, but i worked out the cost of hiring one for more than 2 weekends pretty much equated to the same as buying this. arrived just in time from...

    Bonnet gas strut

i've been removing the bonnet and replacing it on my own everytime i've worked on it recently, it has never occurred to me to just tie it upright. could have avoided so many strained backs and squashed fingers, not to mention scratched paintwork doh
