If its a td4 then you have to remove the ird to get to the hidden bolt, its easier with it out of the way :)

The previous owner was probably a Dr, I know the code is 4 digit has a couple of 2,'s first or last an 8 first or last and a wiggle in the middle. I can't even tell which way up it was written. Can anybody help?

Since the beginning of the week whilst I have been trying to resolve the smoking problem, the car has used a couple of litres of water. Not 100% sure it's not a leak due to it raining here every day but I am now of the opinion that it's likely to be head gasket failure. Not very common on a td4

Gets to around 2000 sometimes it will rev up and kicks the turbo in sometimes . I am running out of ideas that are relatively cheap. I can get a complete running engine for £200 so am fairly sure that it would actually be easier and quicker to swap engines

So far. Fitted 2 new glow plugs, fitted 4 used injectors of a running car, replaced crank case filter. Unplugged MAF. Checked for split hoses. Car still smoking and doesn't want to rev properly either. Same as when I first got it.

Not the sensor, I think it might be turbo related but think it will be cheaper in the long run to swap engine's. I don't know it's history so it could be piston rings or valves. Will keep the post updated
