thinking of picking up a spare auto gearbox but wondered if anyone knows how much it weighs before I try and get it into my boot as it’s a fair distance from me tia

I've not got any further with mine as the duty solenoid has failed in the gearbox, im waiting for a new solenoid to arrive and then i can give my opinion regarding the injectors, always replacing something

I brought 2 keyfobs from a breakers it cost £10 for them and then £40 to get them coded at the rover garage, I was happy with that.

On the stalling issue, my auto kept stalling when pulling away, started straight back up but would stall several times, once moving it was fine, turned out to be the MAF, unplugged it and it ran great (just a bit smokey under load)

My local garage changed mine and said he would never do another! The sub frame securing nuts in the chassis snapped loose so he had to cut it open ,weld new nuts in and then weld it back up. He said if I ever need another 1 done he would lend me his workshop for the weekend

I had the same problem, would not start without easy start, once running it was fine, just a bit noisy at first due to the easy start. Mine was poor injectors, I got a second hand set from a rover 75 at the breakers. All ok now

I sprayed a bit of easy start down the air intake on mine, it started and ran fine but would never start again once stopped. It was faulty injectors causing my problem. Hope this helps

Have you taken the handle of to see why the rubber seal is leaking? i have found that usually the seal leaks because it is badly corroded behind the handle, when you try and undo the nuts holding the handle at least 1 usually snaps, then its either a replacement handle or repair the broken screw...

Just had a message regarding the wires. On the disco version it has a brown wire (fitted to earth ) and a blue wire that goes to earth via a switch. If you "make" the switch and earth the blue wire it turns of the power chip. They assume that their blue wire is the same as your black wire. Good luck

As long as it fits, it means that i could fit the 1.8 IRD giving me time to find/repair a V6 unit, another project vehicle to add to my collection i fear.
