Strange noises from the rear of mine were caused by the fuel tank cradle being rusted through. One of the straps from it was occasionally rubbing on the propshaft, and it had been banging too, at times.

As to the gearbox issue, I would have tried a few gear changes without using the clutch, to try to see if it really was the gearbox or if it was the clutch to blame. Personally, I had wanted to convert from drums to discs on the rear of mine when I first got it, but didn't see any conversion...

It would be helpful to get the error code read. In the meantime, I'd do the usual maintenance, check and change filters, clean the airflow sensor, make sure that the EGR system isn't choked up, etcetera.

If it's the fuel pump, I'd expect the oil level to be normal. If it's the turbo, the oil level will plummet. Check and monitor.

My James Bond smokescreen was caused by the turbo failing on my Citroen C5. That caused a definite lack of power.

I got a bad tyre when I got mine changed and the shudder was terrible. The tyre company changed it right away. It's a quick, easy and cheap check before you go changing parts.

Get the wheel balancing double checked.

Buy some shim stock from eBay or similar and make your own? With small shims, a cheap feeler gauge set could be used as handy shim stock.

This might explain what's involved. As far as I remember, this guy's a mobile mechanic replacing the clutch on the customer's drive, so probably closer to how you would be doing it than a garage video where a lift would be used.

Did you use an engine flush when you changed your oil? Some possible causes of the problem could be the oil strainer on the pickup being blocked with lumps of debris, or a badly fitted o ring on the oil filter. Also, recheck the oil level on a level surface. My own driveway leans over to one...
