i have a 01 td5 autowhich does the same as yours . i have found that if you put the accelerator to about 3 quarter the way down and not to the floor it will kick down and accelerate as normal. not a solution but it works for mine.

thanks for the reply to the big lad .ihave found that if ido the kick down putting the accelorator to about three quarters of the way to the floor it works fine if i put the accelorator right down to the floor the revs go up and downcntinually .this seems to happen at all speeds.

Thanks to Disco Steve and Battenburg for the replies. I appolgise as I may have given you the wrong information. The tapping noise is from the fuel injector pump and not the tank fuel pump. Any ideas? Thanks Alan
