    Strange electrics

I have had my share of odd earths causing odd things to happen. But recently the engine has not turned over too well, almost as if battery not in very good nick. Sometimes intermittent. Used Landy in dark this weekend (don't very often) and noticed dip headlight out on one side. Thought it was...

    Decent starter motor

Have a good battery and all earths are fine. Starter, which is only just over a year, seems very slow and like its on the way out. Was a £60 one. Anyone recommend a decent make that won't cost me the earth....

    Timing Cover Water Leak

OK thanks, so you pinned and left pump in situ, or pinned then removed?

    Timing Cover Water Leak

Thanks Aaron, Thing not clear to me is do I need the "Keeper" plate tool on the fuel pump that Haynes refer to. Have done timing belt before and am OK with that. Timed pump whilst on the machine also, but never had timing belt and pump off at same time before!

    Timing Cover Water Leak

Have traced a slow leak to the water aperture bit of the timing cover. i.e the timing cover housing which bolts to the block, has 3 1x 3mm bolts which go through water pump, cover and into block. These three bolts were perhaps not as tight as could be and have tweaked them up. Only leaked when...

    Twitching Landy

Spot on, it was horribly out of shape. One new tyre sorted it, now saving up for the rest. Thanks for the advice

    Twitching Landy

    Twitching Landy

Have had this problem for a while. Basically If I drive on a smooth road at around 10mph then i have a regular side to side twitch, enough to feel it in you seat. Dissapears at higher speeds (or at least you dont notice it). over the years all hub bearings etc replaced as well as polybushes all...

    Leaky starter motor

Ok. I totally isolated the starter, taking off any feeds to the alternator and the solenoid. I then totally isolated any other feeds from battery and disconnected positive lead. I then put an ammeter between battery and positive lead to start and measured the 3 amp draw. So there was only one...

    Leaky starter motor

Thanks, did that. Still a drain to the motor with absolutely nothing connected. Must be dodgy motor

    Leaky starter motor

Battery draining. Pulled all the fuses and no amps measured anywhere. Then tested main live feed to starter motor and there is a constant 3ampo draw with everything turned off. So that's what's draining the battery, but what would it be? Short in the solenoid? Starter is only about a month old!

    Flywheel got 2 slots ??

Yes it does have two slots! I had this problem when timing my pump. Get a good light and look at them both and it seemed obvious which was the correct one if I remember. I guess your timing is not too far out now so its the one that you can see when you can locate your locking pin in the pump!
