    SD HSE Problem - DPF.

Aye, thanks for that. I have a guarentee from LR as I got this brand new. My main concern now you explain the problem to me, as is it's only done 5,000 miles, most of these miles are local runs which will continue throughout it's life, therefore will it want "fixing" at 10k 15k 20k 25k say. If...

    SD HSE Problem - DPF.

As it says on the tin, my SD 190hp Auto only done just over 5,000 miles and we now have a flashing warning on the instrument panel, (DPF filter). I understand this "thing" is in the exhaust somewhere along the line, but before I ring LR in the morning I would like some info if possible, oh and...

    Fuel consumption Poll

New SD4 190 hp auto, now just got 5,000 on the clock. 40 on a run. 20/25 local. It was a toss up over the top model FL or the base model Disco. I thought the FL would be much better on fuel, so chose that one. Just wonder what the new Disco would have done - around the same maybe?.

    Sd 190

Had my Auto Freelander for about a couple of months now. Seems to be a fine motor with not very much to complain about either, other than it's very heavy on fuel when run local, but up to 40mpg on motorway travel, which seems ok. Excellent Sat Nav as well, seems to be very detailed apart from...

Should I get a manual or automatic TD4?

Picked up my Freelander HSE auto on Friday, seems a brilliant piece of kit, fitted with all the goodies. Why would you choose to row a manual up and down all of the time, when you can sit back and relax with the auto box, it's a no brainer to me. Regards Angel.

    Road Tax

Fuel is approx 55 PENCE a litre which is fine. Tax and VAT is approx 85 PENCE a litre which is legalised robbery. Regards BP*

    Freelander/Disco

Made my decision, either 190 hp HSE Freelander or the 245 hp GS Disco. We have plumped for the all singing/dancing HSE Freelander against the basic GS Disco. I think the main reason was the fuel consumption figures, and availability. Around 10 mpg to the gallon more - allegedly for the HSE...

    Disco 4 v Freelander 2 HSE.

As it says on the tin, to buy new, which would be the best purchase. The base GS Disco 4 or the all singing and dancing Freelander 2 HSE. Driving will be 80% on road - 20% off road, nothing too serious, just around forest tracks and over the odd ploughed field and the like. I have been put...

    Suspected head gasket

For the small cost involved, have the head skimmed and checked for leaks if at all possible. Regards Phil*

    Defender Cab.

Thanks for the reply Litch. Suppose been 20 stone makes the problem worse. Do you think sales would go up if the cab was brought into this century. It could still be made functional, but a wider cab and better seating would enhance it for many large prospective purchasers. Been to have a...

My first proper Land Rover (my Disco doesnt count)

Brilliant series of photo's, tells it as it is. One question to ask, why not start with a new chassis?. Spot in Rotherham makes them for about a grand, fully galvanised. Regards Phil*

    Defender Cab.

Aye, spent over 30 years as a truck driver with my arm out of the window, it would just be "nice" not to have to do it in retirement. Regards Phil*

    Defender Cab.

Suppose it has been discussed on here a thousand times, but why don't they make the cab a couple of inches wider, or move the bloody drivers seat a couple of inches towards the centre so your right arm and shoulder have a bit of room to manouvere. Mate bought a new 110 and told me to have a...

    not a good start.

Had a similar fault on the new Isuzu Trooper I bought, it was the no return valve that stops the diesel leaking back into the tank when you stop the engine. The dealership fitted a "non Isuzu" replacement and it never did it again. Easy way to find out if it is this valve, if it has one that is...

    Confused.

Spot on with the info, thanks. Emailed my local dealer and told him I would probably pull the clutch out of any 4 x 4 that did not have a low ratio box. When we were building high seats for stalking, it means dragging a trailor full of "stuff" deep into woodland, a low box is ideal for this...

    Confused.

I have looked on the LR site and downloaded the spec on all the FL models. But I cannot find out if the 2010 model has the hi/lo gearbox, or has the low box been dropped. Any one know, otherwise it looks like a call to the friendly LR dealer. Regards Phil*

    FL 2 2010 model.

I went looking at new Freelanders this weekend, There is a hell of a price difference between the base and top model, £21.750 - £33.300. If you had the brass, which would you go for. Is £33.300 to much money for a FL. Phil*
