hi, im a new member,i bought a freelander td4 04 plate ,picked it up at 5.30 by 7.30 it was on the back of a recovery truck,it would not start,it was turning over but not starting, took it back the next day as it has a month warranty,2 days later picked it up it had a new fuel pump fitted,
drove home all seemed well, decided to take it to show it to my dad and
it would not start, after 5 or 6 attempts it started, got to have tomorrow
off work to take it back to dealer (not landrover dealer).not a good start to freelander ownership. any ideas what it could be ,please help a newbee.:(

Don`t dealers have to give you 3 months warranty??

Doesn''t matter whether you bought it from a dealer or privately your consumer rights still stand that it was sold unfit for purpose. take it back, get your money back, recoup moneys for recovery etc and either buy a discovery / 90 / 110 whatever you need, just not a gaylander.

a car daeler can give what warranty they fill fit to give you say the car was not fit for the purpose in what way was it not fit for the purpose

Wrong you have statutory rights see link below

Foxwood, i feel for you. i bought on 04 TD4 60K on th clock full service history see my threads.

It has cost so far £2500 in repair bills, my advice take it back and demand your money back.

These cars cost serious money when they go wrong and at 04 or older they generally will.

:doh:thanks for replying, dropped freelander off at guy salmons, dealer payin for it to be sorted .just off out to buy a chocolate fryin pan, salesman sez they are great.

Had a similar fault on the new Isuzu Trooper I bought, it was the no return valve that stops the diesel leaking back into the tank when you stop the engine. The dealership fitted a "non Isuzu" replacement and it never did it again. Easy way to find out if it is this valve, if it has one that is, according to Isuzu if you crank the engine over and over and over it will pump fuel through and eventualy it will start.

Regards.

Guy Salmon IS a Landrover dealer??

Sorry your having problems, but at least it happened within the time of the warranty expiring.. pray that anything else that goes wrong, will do, and in the next 30 days!
