That’s a bummer. Nothing is repairable these days. I prefer the rear door hinges which are fully rebuildable. Norrie.

Ok so all my metalwork is going off for galvanising tomorrow so I thought I would get the hinges done as well. My question is there is a lot of play in the hinges so can you get new hinge pins? I would have just bought new hinges but have been told the new stuff is rubbish quality compared to...

Looking for a set of Series 3 doors. Not bothered if there rotten as I just want them for the door cappings, handles etc. I want to change my Defender style doors back to Series doors. Thanks. Norrie.

Do I also need new door cappings for the Series doors as it looks as if they go completely over the top of the door bottom when the Defender ones just go on the outside. I really need to know this as I’m supposed to be dropping of all my cappings to be galvanised tomorrow. Thanks Norrie.

How much do they charge for an off the shelf engine? Also does it include the head? Norrie

Got most of the bits stripped off to have galvinised. Was much easier than I thought taking the gutter off the roof. Also the glass came out easy from the windscreen frame.

Ok I was thinking of painting it so think I will take it off and see how it looks rubbed down or wire brushed.

ok I’ve painted the engine duck egg blue and all the other parts black and I’m wondering what to do with the rocker cover as it looks rubbish. What have other people done? I was going to paint it but not sure. I wondered about bead blasting it or going over with wet and dry? Norrie.

I've started a mini restoration thread now so you can follow that. I've not came across any surprises apart from the bulkhead at the corners of the vent flaps is rotten. I've got repair panels to weld in there. Norrie.

Nearly finished stripping down Dougal. I'm going to leave the bulkhead and engine in place. The chassis has been welded up already and is solid. Norrie.

It depends on the condition of the doors and who's fitted them. Norrie
