Disco 2 Tracking Down Oil Leaks

To finally resolve the rocker cover issue, I have found that it you grind 1-1.5mm off the bottom of the metal grommet inserts when you next do the gasket, and then tighten it down properly, incorrect order and torque, it should resolve your leaks. After 8 years mine is now leak free from the...

    MOT

Go on the mot history site and check what its failed on before. Find someone nearby with a Nanocom or Hawkeye for a plug in and find out what really wrong with it!! Did anybody mention rust? ;);) Rear chassis legs, under tank, inner wings, check under bonnet carefully, otherwise need to...

Disco 2 Tracking Down Oil Leaks

The yellow area you have highlighted could be from a number of reasons. Maybe from the rear camshaft seal, or the back corners of the camshaft cover are prone to leaks, or it is oil blown from a leaking oil cooler housing gasket, or centrifugal filter housing, or from the turbo oil drain, where...

    Td5 suspension compressor ‘dead’

You don't need the engine running, but it certainly might help with the amount of power needed to drive the compressor. I thought you had power to the compressor anyway, or more precisely, as it was working nothing had changed to suggest there was no power to the compressor. Have I missed...

    Td5 suspension compressor ‘dead’

Haha!! For some reason, not sure how, the compressor goes to "sleep", and needs a kick, ie. large movement of the ride height sensors, to wake it up. Can't explain more than that, sorry....! But it does work, well documented elsewhere on D2BC.

    Td5 suspension compressor ‘dead’

This is quite common IIRC. With all the doors etc closed and ignition on position II, jack up the rear on the towbar, then lower it, go up and down a couple of times, and that should kick the compressor into life.

Hi Europa486, Do you have a link for where you purchased the stainless steel brake pistons, as I've been looking for some time now and haven't been able to find any that specify they are stainless? Thanks

    Disco 2 ACE Pipe

Not sure this is correct. This idea of recirculating is a well published quick ACE repair, that many have performed with a piece of hose and clips. If the pump runs dry, it will wreck it completely.

Disco 2 Left air suspension keeps blowing up

You are correct. Disconnect the battery, jack it up on the towbracket, not the axle, and replace the sensor. Be careful with the electrical connector, as these break up when old. Then reconnect battery, close all doors, put ignition on pos 2 and it should pump up. Lower jack. If doesn't pump...

+1, they definitely work that way round therefore a relay is required.

Disco 2 Swivel ball joint help please

Did you by any chance have any other work done, like replacing the steering damper? Because as a rule of thumb anything other than a genuine LR version won't or doesn't self-centre correctly IIRC. Balljoint replacement alone won't and can't affect the self-centrering aspect of the steering.

    D2 TD5 Fault code

I killed my last MAF by blowing air into it, as you did. Clean it with brake cleaner or proper electrical or even a dedicated MAF cleaner, but let it evaporate, rather than blow air through it. The elements are very fine.... Best to get a genuine LR MAF from to be sure it works properly.

Disco 2 Losing Water. Has anyone fitted BMW expansion tank.

I and many others on D2BC have done this, easy (reasonably) straight replacement. Got my BMW tank off the bay, came with the actual level sensor, some don't and they are expensive to buy separately, and recommended to buy genuine BMW only, and fitted in about 1 hour. The only difference is...

    D2 part no. required

Andy, In answer to your first question, I think these are what you want, MXC3119 https://www.vehicleclips.co.uk/8mm-plastic-trim-clip-for-land-rover-discovery-2-wheel-arch-linings-mxc3119/ or https://www.devon4x4.com/mxc3119-rivet-352412.html As regards your second question, if you mean what I...

Disco 2 TD5 Permanent Fuel Pressure Gauge

Best to use a T piece, so you keep the fuel temperature sensor in place. Several have done it this way, either permanently fitted, or or just for use as a test for the fuel pump.

Disco 2 Can I Turn Off Internal Alarm Sensors?

John, In answer to your original post, yes it is possible to turn off the volumetric sensors, but you need a Nanocom or similar to do it. Not sure about the other devices, but Nanocom definitely can. Also in relation to your lack of power, again you would be best to find someone with a...
