Eventually got the Defender 1.4 Transfer box on. Pleased and frustrated in equal measures! It now locks up at 52mph (not 59mph as it did before) and pulls better because of the lower gearing/higher revs. At slower speeds, the torque converter is losing any benefit! Roll on a HD TC or a V8...

All depends on what snorkel you've got. I bought a Safari snorkel and retained the standard 300Tdi airbox. :)

I can't give a definitive answer. I changed my 7 seat Disco to 5. Passes every MOT. DVLA fine, no problems. Can't see reducing it to 2 seats is much different.

It's always worth checking the condition of the W connection on the back of the alternator - often a cause of rev counter problems.

A few things to think about..... Buy the right kit to go with your body mouldings. I bought one for a Disco with no mouldings and then had to trim them all back. With hindsight, I'd have removed the mouldings before I fitted them, that way it would avoid the aggro of refitting the...

Well, the end of an era. I've now left my job after sixteen years, ready for a fresh start in January. Thought I'd show you my leaving gifts.

That's what I've got for 35s. Ideally I wanted one tooth less but they don't make them. If anybody wants a free red gear - give me a shout. :D
