    SORN or not?

So let me get this right. This guy is asking how he can drive his Landy without an MOT and if he gets caught what will give him the minimum penalty? Sorry chum no matter what your justification regarding not enough dosh for a few days till it gets fixed - don't drive it until fixed and MOT'd.

    Softening Landy suspension?

30 front and back on my 235/85's and it still crashes around like yours. I thought new genuine springs would solve it but hasn't. I did put new shocks on but they were Br***rt ones :( so thinking of getting some decent gas one's. Malcolm

Cabin fan control leaver. not attached.

Yes, It's parts 4 & 5 in that diagram and there should be 2 of them. On the left hand side of part number 1 there are threaded brass bosses that the screws fit into. I think there's also a couple of plastic "tubes" on the inside of the Large plastic instrument surround that the screws go through...

    hears a good question

Once saw a little tag on a speedo cable on a car with suspect mileage "oh no, not again"

Cabin fan control leaver. not attached.

I think you'll find there should be 2 screws hold it on. They come through the plastic surround from the left side of the surround and screw into threaded bosses on the actual lever assembly. HTH Malcolm

heater box lever removal (heater box end)

Welding the arm seems to be the only solution. The stupid clip that holds the arm onto the shaft is NOT available. I'm in the process of swapping over heater boxes and was told by main dealers that "if you want that clip (or the arm) you have to buy a complete heater assembly". Madness...

    heater fan

Just be careful if you adjust the cables. The clip that holds the hot/cold lever onto the shaft at the top of the box has broken on mine and they are not available. Official dealer says you have to buy a new box!! There must be a bucket of them somewhere in the factory but there's no part...

How to fit 90 door rubber seals

There's a HUGE difference in quality between genuine and ****part. I went for the cheap option and they only fitted where they touched and there were big sections where I could see daylight. Bit the bullet and bought a genuine one to try (they are expensive) - what a difference, cut the...

    Dash LED Replacement bulbs

I replaced my bulbs with led's, they do make a significant difference only 2 problems. First they only work one way so if it doesn't work first time turn it round, second despite what they say about x zillion hours life, they fail regularly. Maybe I got a duff lot but how do you know? IIRC...

Adjusting Defender 90 Rear Door Lock - Help!!

My rear door handle recess used to fill with water so I put a small rivnut in the bottom then another in the door skin itself further down and inside the door connected the 2 with a bit of plastic tubing. It now just drains itself clear. Malcolm

    oil pressure gauge

You are going to have to see what clearance there is around the oil filter. Basically that looks like it goes between the filter and the block and then you plumb the oil pressure sender into the side of it. Have a look underneath to see if there's enough room for the sender without fouling...

    oil pressure gauge

I bought a VDO gauge and like you wanted to keep the low pressure warning light so bought a sender with 2 terminals (expensive ). The big problem then was that the sender was too physically large to screw into the block where the old sensor was as it fouls stuff nearby. I have now bought a...

    Blind Spots

As has been said, Mudd stuff used to do them but no more. I got mine from them a long time ago and basically what you get is a piece of glass and some rubber window sealing strip. You cut the hole yourself (pretty scary) put the sealing strip in, put the glass in and then a locking strip on the...

puting in a center td5 dash into a tdi

The only good thing about RS was that they didn't have one of the connectors but after the fuss I made in the place they rang round and got it sent to me post free - from France! It arrived 2 days later. :hysterically_laughi

puting in a center td5 dash into a tdi

I picked them up from my nearest RS warehouse and avoided the delivery charge, although there was some confusion as to whether I should have been able to do that! Some items are only supposed to be available from the web site apparently in which case I would have gone to someone like Simtek. I...

puting in a center td5 dash into a tdi

Those plugs are far cheaper elsewhere - RS for example. But if someone is doing a complete cable to connect the Td5 dials to a Tdi loom then I'd like to see it, not sure it's possible though having read the description of the conversion and the way the instruments are powered/fed. Malcolm

    Wipac Clear Headlights

Well mine got an MOT last year with them on and will try for another shortly.

    Slack wipers / wheelbox

Mine did that on the drivers side. Make sure the little bolt holding the wiper arm on hasn't come loose. It tightens onto a flat section and mine had worn a bit. WD40 and tightened it up and bit and slop gone!

    removing door hinges

I thought I'd go one better and replace my sloppy hinges as i can move the door quite a lot, only thing is the new one's seem to have as much play in them. Are they supposed to be like that?

    Radio wanted

Does anyone have a Philips 22DC651/61 radio for my '95 Defender that I could buy? Alternatively I just need the LCD display as mine doesn't! It would be nice to have the correct radio with Land Rover logo.
