    Hello & Advice Please

I think that sounds OK to me. Even if the engine does pack in (which is unlikely as they are pretty good engines as long as they have been maintained) you could always buy a rotten Discovery and do an engine swap. If it's as good as you say it is then do it. But... :nopics:

Head gasket then. Is it 200Tdi or 300Tdi?

    Pressure in expansion tank

Sounds like you may have a slight head gasket leak. Do you lose any water at all?

    It's got another MOT!

According to the failure notice it is actually the back support that has to move, not the base. Strange because I know my base is very stiff but the back bit is (or was) fine. But I picked it up yesterday and the seat back was almost horizontal so I think they got it working.

    It's got another MOT!

Took the 110 in for its second MOT (with me anyway) on Monday and it failed on drivers seat unable to move (new this year apparently) and brakes unbalanced at the back. So I left it at a friends while I could find the time to do it. The friend had a quiet day today so he decided to strip the...

    leaky head valve tolerance?

Thinking about it, it could be a faulty injector pump too. You could try a fuel supply test with the injectors by putting containers on the leak of pipes on each injector and cranking over the engine with the fuel solenoid disconnected so the engine wouldn't start. Basically you should get the...

    leaky head valve tolerance?

Swap injectors no2 and no3 around to rule out a faulty injector/pump.

    1961 109, which engine, norfolk

Discovery one will be far cheaper than a Defender one and it will fit, so depends on your budget I suppose. Either way there is going to be fabrication.

    DVLA want engine inspected!!!!!

When I did my conversion I rang the DVLA to ask what I needed to do and they said that if the engine was the same size and fuel type then all I had to do was to fill in the new engine number in the v5 and send it in, which I did. They weren't bothered about anything else. So if in this case the...

    leaky head valve tolerance?

Water isn't a good test anyway, petrol would be better as it's thinner. It's up to you, but if it were me I would lap the valves in. If you ask I am sure someone on here who is near you might lend you the bits you need, or maybe help for beer tokens?

Boost gauge reading from plenum chamber?

I think a lot of people who do this just have a push connector and don't bother with the banjo thing you have pictured. But I can't see why this wouldn't work. And I had to google plenum chamber. Plenum chamber - inlet manifold? Learn something new every day!

Won't start after top end overhaul

Burn it then and get a Pajero! :drum: Or another engine... It's probably cost you more than a replacement engine would have anyway.
