..if you want to keep it original looking buy a set of defender steel wheels, later one are tubeless. Its what I've done. second hand cheeper than a set of inner tubes

Hi the gearbox filler is on the side. Transfer filler is on the end by the transmission brake if that's what you mean. So gearbox shouldn't be filling from transfer box?

I'd guess at about 18 months since I drained and re filled. It's fine going up and down the gears, but is a bit noisy in top

...I'm guessing it's a gearbox rebuild then?! Its pretty knackered anyway, I've been looking out for a cheap series 3 box, looks like I'll have to try harder! Thanks for all your responses. What can I do in the meantime? Just drain and refill I presume?

They keep saying it's close to production but there's been no spy shots, usually all new cars get 'spotted' before release. I'm very sceptical that there will be anything in the next couple of years. Any why would they make a niche vehicle anymore when they can make millions from soft roaders.

Cheers for the replies, couldn't work out why people are paying so much, I guess like everything the new ones won't last forever, but in my case it will be for setting the timing and adjusting the tappets... I'll get a new one and save 30 quid then!

Thinking of getting a starting handle for my series petrol, why are all the second hand ones on eBay seam to be 40 quid or so but I can buy a new one from paddocks for about a tenner? Are the new ones no good, from the picture I can't tell if there is something different?
