The ECU is only clipped to the underside of the seat cushion with a plastic turnbuckle. You don't need to move the seat to reach it. Stick your hand underneath and you will reach it. There is enough slack on the cable for you to pull it out and disconnect it.

The head unit does not usually fail it is normally the cable that is either tight or requires some oil dripped down the cable. The clicking would suggest that it is the cable that is stuck. The speedo can also fail to work if the angle drive screws are not tight.

The switch for the courtesy lights is a spring plunger fixed to the A or B posts. When the door is shut it presses in the plunger switching the lights off. If they do not work it is generally rust on the screws. Remove the screw and grease the thread or replace with another self tapper.
