    ive clocked summot an ickle bit betterer than a defender fan get to the scrappys and rip the fan out of a saxo ( theyre the same size got 4 speeds built in and electronic thick plastic housing and at full tilt will blow yer flat cap clean orff ) just remember to get the plugs for the fan and...

    undoo the windscreen top bolts then yer can just about get enough play to tilt the windscreen forward to remove the bulkhead when swapping ;)

    yer can always go topless for the day .......................or take the appropriate spanners with you to remove one side pannel while yer get the bulkhead in ( just incase it wont fit through thr back door)

    so it all stems from a minor leak from the heater matrix that got an ickle bit of water near the clutch pedal and the gaylander went into pedal ejecto mode :bolt::behindsofa:

    typicaly ive pretty much ended up stripping the engine back down to a bare block to find the smashed little bits of follower and just about rebuilt the bugger again and im now to the point that it only needs bleeding up again and starting again ...........hopefully this time round itll be fine...

    as for the oil under it thats just the faithful old dog marking its territory on yer driveway :D:D theres another saying that rather than mess about with funnels and things just pour the fresh oil all over the top of the engine and itll find its own way back in :smokin::smokin:

    going off the original factory standard wiring diagram its a 2 pin unit but as said above over the years the wiring harness on any series could be heavily modified botched or damaged so hold yer horses and see what yer got first :D:D:D

    there were a couple of pistons with slight rings bashed into them and one that looked like a half crown mark and the others had worn like yer said and gone so slack in the valve guide it were like throwing a woodbine through the albert hall :D on the other hand due to their hardness the old...

    how it happened waas the valves had been sticking in the open position now and again giving that clank sound when the piston ****ts the valves and was missfiring badly for the first few seconds on cold start all i can think is if th valve is stuck open when the cam releases under the roller...

    i know matey i just wish id had a couple hours more daylight today as i still need to put the sump back on and fit a new oil filter but while it was appart i took the oppertunity to go through it like a dose of the clap through a brothel :D

    what oil ring the ones on the pistons i had out and inspected ( run in bleddy lovely now them ) and the cylinders are lookin near perfect nice and evenly worn in :D:D:D:D bive em a good old clean out with a bit of thinners and a scotchbrite pad :D:D
