That's a good way to treat it, yeh they're not pretty in that picture. I will prob need about 2cm top and rear of the wheel arch. Sounding confident, but who knows when I get started it might not work out. I certainly enjoyed working on the bed frame but I find wood more intuitive to work with.
This story is pretty much up to date with my 110, but I have a plan to add wider arches as the weather warms up.
The new wheels and tyres in the picture above does not sure how much they protrude from the arches. I bought a set of wide arches from SP but realised to my horror that I would have...
I'm not giving any details until he completes mine :p he needs no distractions, but its cheaper than buying 4 new doors, all new fittings, glass, reassembling and then repainting the whole car. To be honest, not a lot cheaper. :(
My tame mechanic has been working on my door frames as a background project. The frames were badly rusted right up to the window opening. He has completed 1 door reconstruction and its very solid - basically a new door frame. I am pleased because it will use the original skin and equipment and...
Last summer I constructed a bed in the rear of the truck
Its not attached at all, just wedges in - takes about 5 minutes to install or remove.
Doesn't need much support underneath
Futon mattress perfect size:
And room for the beer keg and cooler:
Bit of a late update, I got some wider wheels and tyres
It needs wider arches but I have struggled to find ones I like that use the original fixings. Coming soon though!
Cheers!
I don't do a lot of the work myself, but there is this for my 2 door https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/timc1967s-110-slow-project.249761/, which I need to update. My CSW is in the workshop getting doors rebuilt.
I'm really going to enjoy reading your updates as I have a similar CSW (1992 in blue) and all 4 doors are being rebuilt.
We all have our own priorities of course, but my view is that you're mad to paint it at this stage. Let me share how I like to do things:
Get it through MOT
Use it...
Very nice, I have tubular on mine, but the diameter is rather less on mine I think!
I wrapped mine with exhaust heat-wrap, main concern was near the brake and clutch pipes, but presume overall it carries more heat out the back than retains under the bonnet which is a good thing.
Czech Republic is so much easier to spell.
I still like the idea that parent company Tata will take it back to India and start making it, although they have Jag & Land Rover do they really need an old design like Defender to impact their image as a global innovative company; if that's what they...
Can that be achieved through a split charger?
My split charger doesn't seem to work so I have been investigating http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maypole-2883-Automatic-Charge-Replay/dp/B003H5A2VW so far to no avail.
Not an expensive mistake really, it could have been much worse. Land rovers have had numerous changes over the years and you have to get the correct components for the specific model you own. If in doubt post up a question and a helpful soul will answer.
It looks good in the photos, and you say it runs great - it hurts to hear it will get broken up.
What is your assessment of the overall condition?
I will ask around locally to see if anyone is interested in having it complete.
