I fitted a brand new genuine LR pressure regulator. When it had a cracked fuel injector housing it started and run and towed my small caravan brilliantly...the only reason I knew there was an issue was because I kept checking the oil level and it was increasing (filling up with diesel)...

Forgot to say, this was correct - it was part of the fuel cooler. Thank you again. :)

I have had the cylinder head off and am putting it back together. Now the engine starts with a great deal of difficulty...chucking out white smoke, runs for a minute or so then stops! I am running out of ideas now - but it just occurred to me. I bagged and numbered all my injectors (1 to 5)...

@Nigel1943 I am pretty certain that it is correct. I used two timing pins. Thank you But will try it again just to be sure.

@Headtester thanks for your response....and yes I have done this although I couldn't blank them at the module and had to blank them at the EGR end.

I have rebuilt the head on Disco TD5 which had cracked injector housing. I was advised to back it off one and half turns in stead of one turn. After bleeding system the engine did start and run for a minute or so but keeps cutting out. It will restart and then cut out again, and so on.. Does...

The cylinder head has been removed and repaired and I am now putting it back together. But I have this unidentified part..see picture. I have been through the parts list and the LR workshop manual and can't see it listed anywhere. Can anybody identify it please.

@NIRover I have not had any luck finding a sounder...I have tried everywhere. Can you tell me where you got yours? Thanks

Thanks for your response discodrivercumbria....could I ask you....did you get any loud rattling sounds and do you know what causes the smoke. If that is the problem...at least it is fairly quick and inexpensive to do. Oh and....how long has it been since you did this last repair? Thanks

I was driving along...up gentle hill, 30mph ...all fine and then I could hear a loud rattling sound and could see grey (not black) smoke from exhaust...I slowed down, the smoke cleared and rattling stopped and it went back to normal driving. Same thing again after a few hundred yards and then...
