    First D2 TD5 Problems already

Agree that you need new injector seals and O rings. Use genuine LR seals and washers only, around £30. Make sure the seats are spotlessly clean before you fit the copper washers and O rings. Also check the injector housing is not cracked ( as mine was).

    The ongoing saga 6

Latest update (10th Dec) after re cutting no 3 injector seat more than a month ago it is still running perfectly, 3 amigos still haven't reappeared, and today she passed her MOT. All is well with my world again :5bhurray: Next job - break upgrade.

    The ongoing saga 6

It was weeks of pulling my hair out in despair...doubting my own abilities...and trying just about everything. And in the end it was one just one injector seat that needed recutting.

    Brake issues

I agree 100% with this.....the place to start is the master cylinder.

    The ongoing saga 6

AT LAST - SHE GOES!!! After weeks of trying this and that (not entirely wasted though as I learned lots) - I finally sussed out what the problem was. One of the injector seats (no 3) was not sealing, kept blowing. I tried everywhere to get a seat cutter to no avail. Eventually, today I made a...

faulty injector seats - need cutter

Thanks for your thought on this. The head has been repaired and pressure tested so I think it is ok. I have narrowed down to being a problem with no3 injector. New seals and washers are in the post (again) but still need to find a cutter.

faulty injector seats - need cutter

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I replaced all seals with genuine seals, again. No 3 had blowpast on the copper washer so replace them yet again. Engine started fine and even ticked over ...then cut out. Seal is blown past again, just no 3. Which is why I need the cutter as no 3 just wont...

    The saga - 5!!

Hi there, the timing is spot on and the mark on the pulley lines up exactly between the two coloured links on the chain. I did not remove the timing chain. So that allowed me to insert the two timing pins, one top and one bottom.

faulty injector seats - need cutter

okey dokey, this has been an ongoing problem...I have almost pulled what little hair I have left, out. But today I think I am making some headway. I am sure that the problem is now narrowed down to faulty injector seats. Does anybody know where I can buy a TD5 Injector Seat Cutter? Or has...

    The saga - 5!!

I have worked on this motor on and off for a couple of months now...I think I am closer to knowing that is stopping it working..I think it is the injector seals...seal no 3 is showing signs of blowby. I have renewed all the seals again, bled the system, engine floods and locks up...and I get...

The ongoing saga 4? (lost track of the number)

Thanks for this explanation - that helps me understand. I switched all relays round - no difference - so switched them back again. Engine doesn't run long enough to look at the pressure guage. When I got it started it run for 30 secs approx - sounded good - but then cut out. When I go into...

The ongoing saga 4? (lost track of the number)

Ok, will do - but for my own understanding - how is shifting the relays around going to give me the information to know if this is a management or electric issue? If it is an electrical or engine management fault - surely my new tester would pick these up? ...am I being thick (no need to...

The ongoing saga 4? (lost track of the number)

I have got a fuel pressure reading now...it is slightly over 4 bars and its been holding that pressure for 7 mins +. And that was achieved by bypassing the pump relay and I kept it running for 7 mins

The ongoing saga 4? (lost track of the number)

I had a quick conversation with the specialist who repaired my cylinder head cracked injector housing and he said because the engine is flooding which is causing a hydraulic block it must be either the copper sealing washer is not sealing (I dont think this is the problem as I would expect it...

How to check if fuel line is clear

Back again. I couldnt get to do any work on the car over the bank holiday week as I have been involved in many of the community events here which has taken all my time. To backtrack a little: I took your good advice and invested in an diagnostic tool but because my partner said I could use one...
