What have I done to your Freelander today... ...not much, since I've been busy fitting my new vice on the workbench broke the old "small" one during the week removing UJ from propshaft all cleaned and painted, ready for tomorrow's rebuild

Yes, it's the aux belt. I guess the belt was to short cause the tensioner was very tight and it's bearing got worn also.

not today but over the weekend... replaced this: and fitted these: so I could install these: and gave the rear diff an oil change and a lick of paint: now I need new: dif mounts; ARB bushes and drop links; VCU bearings and UJs

mine did the same some time ago this was my 1st fix but then I used the metal part of an electrical connector block

you could get a whole Freelander for spares for that money...

there is something called the search button...

the hole in the bracket is a bit wider than the screw's thread, so the middle one is screwed in first and then the guard slides a couple of mm down, besides they are Torx so the tool can be a bit "off-alignment" and still turn the screw.
