    Defender A-Frame Removal... Jack Required?

My castle nut was seized but I liberally doused it in anti-seize oil and used a very well fitting 25mm six sided socket and an impact wrench. The impacting popped the ball joint out at the same time :)

    Defender A-Frame Removal... Jack Required?

One other thing I found was that you can remove the M10 bolt that is nearest the 28mm nut then refit it with the nut to the bottom which allows a 28mm socket to go onto the 28mm but FAR more easily. Access to the top A frame bolt is made easier too by disconnecting the exhaust at the mid box...

    Defender A-Frame Removal... Jack Required?

I've just done my A frame. Didn't remove wheels or jack up...... Mid section of exhaust needs disconnecting and tying to the side to access the 28mm bolts at the top of the A frame. Make sure you clean the threads of the large bolts with wire brush before you try and remove or they seize up.

    Steering Box Repair Kits

I spoke to someone about this same issue as mine had (still has) a very slight leak when I got it (probably added 80-100ml fluid over 3 years). Anyway he said it's very hit and miss doing the rebuilds on steering boxes as the seals have to be exactly in the right place or they don't seal plus...

The year before last mine failed on the rear fog light and when I checked it was literally full of mud!

I get the advisor (using the garage I've used the last couple of years) that the chassis has been repaired!

    MOT test history BETA site

It makes some interesting reading. This year mine failed amongst other things on front shock absorber rubber bushes worn. I replaced them and have since upgraded all my suspension but looking back through the history it's failed on the same bushes every other year since the computerisation of...

Indicators turn on as hazards randomly

I'm trying to work that out too but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough :D

Indicators turn on as hazards randomly

An expensive solution but it does avoid a number of other issues due to having an adjuster to adjust to your vehicles indicator power requirements which avoids them flashing slowly or fast when you fit LEDs/extra lights etc. If I remember rightly they had two versions with one created...

    Wanted Drivers side wing mirror

If you do fit the heater elements they're combined power use is less than a bulb so no relay is needed if you get a 15amp switch and basically you can just take a fused ignition live wire through the switch to the heater elements so long as you remember not to leave them on for more than 15-20...

    Terrafirma RTC steering damper

That's exactly the issue I've got. Grinding the spring removes the paint which allows rust so that's the issue I had BUT it's what I'll have to do!

    Terrafirma RTC steering damper

I'll have a look at that. I'm hoping for good weather tomorrow so may well get both the radius arms, panhard rod and steering damper done plus the rear arms. That'll take care of the chassis bushes. It's a shame I can't take them all off at once and take them down to the local Landrover...

    Terrafirma RTC steering damper

The spring will not wind onto the aluminium thing on mine. I think that the end of the spring is not quite at the right angle. I've e mailed them but not had an answer yet. At least I got job1 done, my A frame ball joint and bushes today....... Had to virtually do the job twice as I fitted...

    Wanted Drivers side wing mirror

Seriously, if you want my opinion I would get another arm at £7.49 and then purchase a pair of MUD extra large XL mirrors at £13.50 each http://www.mudstuff.co.uk/defender-xl-mirror-head.html I did and I've been well happy with them. I also paid the extra £9.50 for the heater elements!

I'm still waiting for a day without rain to do my A frame bushes and ball joint....... Want to do all the bushes, A frame ball joint and RTC damper then service it whilst I'm off. Let us know how it goes. My spring isn't cut very well and will not actually go into the aluminium bracket...
