I like the fairlead Mark, I have the crappy cheap one lol I'm interested in your clutch issue. Every so often I have my clutch pedal feel as though the effective travel is reduced by as much as 50-60%. What I mean by that is that when it happens, the first few inches of travel have no...

    what winch?

It's an inmotive question this. Mainly depends on budget and severity of use. I have a champion 12000lb winch with steel rope. I brought it second hand as it needed repair. Good item to service as its simple, as most are. I paid £150 for it and built a winch bumper specifically for it. Sat it...

I have used these guys before and they have always been spot on.

brake pressure regulator can it make the brakes pedal go hard??

Yep this happened to me yesterday. Brakes worked fine when driving normally with high engine revs but then in a carpark I almost hit a car as the engine was at tick over during parking. Little pipe had split and come off. Where does this pipe go to anyhow>>>>>>

    External rollcage

In addition to what TopCat has said and in my opinion FWIW- I have been swatting up on cages for the Hornet as i want an external cage. There are published docs explaining requirements for a Discovery cage to meet in order to be approved ofr competition use. In basic terms the outriggers...

Nice rumble from the motor in the video. Do you feel that the bottom mounted cones give an advantage? When I was looking at relocation cones I read that they are easier and gentler to relocate the spring when the cones are mounted othe axle than othe chassis. Mine are std items on the chassis...

    auf_wiedersehen_pet's build thread.

This is looking really nice and very Green, which I like!!! Nice attention to detail too. You should be very proud of that. I particularly like the bonnet scoop for swallowing old ladies and young children as well as the nice green calipers...........

    My Discovery build....

Sorry Drizz, I must have missed that one :D I have seen people weld the axle tubes but that just goes against my mechanical comfort zone, too much stress relying on my welding lol

    My Discovery build....

Did you re drill the swivels or buy some already altered, ie new items specifically made for the job?

    My Discovery build....

With your corrected axles, did you relocate the radius arm mounts? Did you use the shock mounts as a level plane to ensure the axle was rotated enough? A phot would be good if possible.............. :-) Thanks

    My Discovery build....

Drizz, What a great thread and a fabulous build! Bloody well done!! I have just sat and gone through the thread with huge feelings of jealousy as I am in need of a work shop. I like your approach from the ground up and in retrospect it would have been the easiest way to modify the...

you two are like a pair of old women lol. Mr Noisey, Loving the megasquirt too. Have the Lotus all settled down and running as std with throttle boddies and still getting 32mpg, uploaded a vid to discoventures 'my youtube channel' - now thinking of a turbo conversion for a little more umph...

^^^Correct ^^^ On the bottom as standard. I generally think people put the on the top to aide clearance and because they think they are better lol. The best way would be to mimic the rear set up with a single bolt to mount arrangement, unfortunately this wouldn't take the twisting forces...

Discovery 1 - will take up drive but won't move?

I have never had this issue and it sounds awful BUT i have had problems getting the calliper bolts off and the nipples undone ooerr. I have an impact driver for these trying times, 1/2" drive so can take sockets or screwdriver bits AND I don't have to whack it square on so I can swing like a...

    Lack of power when towing

FWIW, The classic mod is to install the defender transfer box. This helps when you have larger tyres as its a mod im looking at, so for towing a caravan etc it would be a descent investment.

    Please help !!!!

Convert to springs and use the compressor as an on board air system. Less hassle and cheaper all round. I was lucky and got rid of my D2 before it suffered from the air bag issues. However a couple of friends haven't been so lucky...

To carpet, or not to carpet

I have run mine without carpets for the last year. It makes it noisier obviously but a lot easier to keep clean when off road. I think that the stable matting idea is a winner and will probably try that!!

I didn't see that article, sounds interesting. With the mounts, I have seen the current items mount with their connections above the axles axis (axis running from hub to hub) so when breaking the axle wants to twist away from the mounts and this is what snaps them. By ensuring your mounts are...

Well helloooo all, I've neglected you all lately and im soo sorry but everything has been up i the air and the Hornet hasnt had much attention in recent months. She is sat on axle stands outside the house as the summer is taken up by other rides lol. However, this weekend I did change the...
