Please help !!!!

I have a discovery 2 and I'm getting rather annoyed with the air suspension,now before anyone is to say look at the old posts I have, the problem is that I got the height regulator arms done and it fixed the problem of waking up to the disco on its backside !! For what has been 2 weeks now without much of a problem the odd time I've had to press the height button sorry I don't know the tec name as I'm not motor literate lol , the thing is now when driving down the road tonight the bloody thing sank to the ground while driving and refused to go back up, so had to limp home but what is strange is that it went up a little then just sank after leaving the engine switched off for a while and trying other things it would do nothing ahhhhhh !! So the story is I got home turned it off had my dinner went back out switched it on hey presto pressed the button and it went up ?? And stayed there and is still up now ? , so the thing is do I put new air bags in and run the risk of the compressor being the fault or do I convert to springs , I really don't know what to do with such a temperamental fault hmmmmm ?? Any advice will be appreciated cheers !!!

I had the same thing. At the time it had to go to the dealers- Ended up it was both bags leaking, pipe work leaking and needed a new slabs ecu. The only thing actually okay was the compressor! This was years ago (never used to do any mechanicking, but had to learn some!) but now I'd have a go myself. Hope yours isn't as bad, but does sound like a leaking bag to me.

Thanks for that fingers crossed its not the ecu ,thing is I really don't want to change the bags if it is the compressor is there any way to check if the compressor is ok before the bags are fitted ?

set the suspension on it high setting,then use soapy water in a spray bottle to spray the airbags to see if they are leaking.at least you will eliminate those.

Disconnect the battery while it is up and level .if its a pipe or value leak it should go down straight away . If its a bag leak you might have to stand on bumper and give it a good shake ,or let it stand for a while .but if it goes down you can rule out electric parts and ecu with the batt off.

Thank you for your help I will give it a go in the morning , just cant understand why it would not rise for half hour and now its sitting normal ?

are you sure all the doors/taidoor were well closed while it didnt want to rise? ...or eventually do you get a misslock(short horn sound) warning when you lock the doors?(though if the misslock warning is disabled from BCU you'll not hear anything)... the suspension would make tricks if a door switch is faulty cos the compressor is disabled when a door is open... or if the SLABS ECU "thinks" it is due to a door switch failure

Think the problem was leaky air springs in the first instance, not the height sensors.

Convert to springs and use the compressor as an on board air system. Less hassle and cheaper all round. I was lucky and got rid of my D2 before it suffered from the air bag issues. However a couple of friends haven't been so lucky...
