Td5 holding revs on gear change

Yes it is a facelift model. I can feel underneath the master cylinder there is an Allen key or torx bung plug where it should screw in. From other threads I was reading I was under the impression the cruise would not work at all if unplugged? I’ve checked the connector and it has not been...

Td5 holding revs on gear change

Evening all, Quick question, my manual td5 discovery has always held onto revs on changing gear and is always more noticeable the more you use the Rev range when in a gear. I’ve done some searching on this topic and it has always pointed to the clutch pressure switch on the master cylinder. Now...

    Insulation

I used dynamat or a similar material as it stops the tinny sound. Over the top of that I used closed cell foam sheets from eBay as the insulation and further noise reduction. then got carried away and did most of the interior. In honesty not really worth the cost or time. The echoing and...

    My 3rd td5 discovery

Quick write up about my stage 1 remap. Only had egr delete and boost is currently at 19psi peak. So I thought about a remap for a while but was a bit skeptical of how much difference it would really make. Read a lot of people saying how much power it adds and how it transforms the vehicle but...

    My 3rd td5 discovery

Forgot all about this thread until a minute ago. Fortunately I haven’t had to do much apart from drive the thing. I’ve had to change an air spring and another wheel bearing. Also put some performance brakes on. I did get a custom remap on a 4 wheel rolling road so I’ll put up the details from that.

New Disco questions. Yes another one of these.

No no at all I’ve have the same system in my es discovery and have had a single din kenwood in there with Bluetooth and now have a touch screen double din pioneer. The only issue I encountered is I had to lower the speaker level on each speaker (which can be done in the settings for the radio)...

New Disco questions. Yes another one of these.

Easy to change the stereo on these. They are a standard single din size and all the ones I’ve seen have standard iso wiring that will connect to any radio harness you buy. The radio is plug and play For the steering wheel controls you’ll need to buy a wiring harness, loads on eBay or somewhere...

    Td5 discovery parking sensors

Paddocks displayed it as genuine so can only assume it was. All the others I believe to be the originals. It has complete service history that was all in date order in a massive folder and nothing about parking sensors were in there.

    Td5 discovery parking sensors

Got an issue with the parking sensors on my 52 plate discovery. Now I know there are no diagnostics for this system so fault finding is quite difficult. basically ignition on and in reverse long beep and flash on parking sensor switch. Got out and listened to the parking sensors for the...

Would buying a 1996 90 TDI and attempting to modernise be a money pit?

from experience the 3.0 diesels have always been bulletproof and I’ve done 30,000 miles in mine over 2 years. As a car there is no competition as to what is better to drive. Over this weekend I’ve done a round trip to Manchester from Devon and back of over 500 miles and You don’t even feel like...

Would buying a 1996 90 TDI and attempting to modernise be a money pit?

If you’re thinking of buying an older model then drive one of the last defenders and see if you like it. That was land rovers attempt at modernising the defender and with the money and resources they have available I think that without enormous expense and work you’d struggle to get it any...

    My 3rd td5 discovery

Been fairly busy recently doing odd little jobs. One I really wanted to do before this discovery went into proper use was replace the oil pump bolt. So the discovery went on my 2 post ramp and the off came the sump. Leaving me with this sight The bolt was tight but had no locking compound...

    Decisions RR Vogue v Disco 4 v Def 110

Range Rover with the tdv8 is an epic car and It’s a lot of car for the money. Obviously this could potentially mean more issues. However all 3 are likely to have issues and you are more likely able to fix the defender cheaper than the other 2. Any issues that crop up in the defender will be well...

Td5 Discovery heavy steering at low revs

So just to close this thread up. It was the power steering pump that was at fault
  16. 1

    My 3rd td5 discovery

Not done lots on it recently found the front wheel bearing was loose so changed that and finally got around to changing the power steering pump which has solved my issues of heavy steering at low rpm. Then had a whacky idea and decided to shorten the gear stick to improve the feel of it and is...

    My 3rd td5 discovery

Wish I did have a pit. I have a 2 poster in the barn but currently there’s an xkr in there having a lot of welding done to the arches so everything is being done outside.

So more done so far today silicone hoses fitted, egr delete all done, propshaft and donut all fitted.

I know completely unheard of. It’s just behind the rear shock absorber so not too difficult.

    My 3rd td5 discovery

They certainly will be greased more often. It’s already had a new front prop so I shouldn’t have to worry about propshafts for a while. I’ve never known one to seize so solid. Today should be a busy one. Just need to fit the propshaft, egr delete, silicone boost hoses, change a front drop link...
