Looks like you got a pit! Lucky chap! Our water table is too high for me to be able to dig one out, then our garage is too low for me to get a Landy in anyway. so I do all my work outside on a gravel drive. Sob!

@Stanleysteamer looks like cardboard to me:eek:

I have a pit and yes water came in when digging had it lined with plastic before concrete but it can still leak water in a wet winter. Sometimes have to pump it out before using:eek: but is nice to have for sure.

Wish I did have a pit. I have a 2 poster in the barn but currently there’s an xkr in there having a lot of welding done to the arches so everything is being done outside.

While you're under there, mucking about with hoses etc, it might be a good idea to get under the wheel arches, take off the panels that let you look into the engine compartment and check none of the hoses are rubbing and that all the clips designed to stop that happening are in the right place. There are a sh1tload of hoses etc under there and all are prone to wear unless previous mechanics/owners have been meticulous about keeping them apart.

Not done lots on it recently found the front wheel bearing was loose so changed that and finally got around to changing the power steering pump which has solved my issues of heavy steering at low rpm.

Then had a whacky idea and decided to shorten the gear stick to improve the feel of it and is much better and cheaper than the option of a slickshift which I had fitted to my second discovery and for the money didn’t feel it was worth it. Pictures to follow of this as haven’t had the chance to take any just yet.

Been fairly busy recently doing odd little jobs. One I really wanted to do before this discovery went into proper use was replace the oil pump bolt.
So the discovery went on my 2 post ramp and the off came the sump.
Leaving me with this sight

The bolt was tight but had no locking compound on it so in a sense glad I replaced it all. Sump was all cleaned up and there was no sludge or anything in it which did surprise me.

Then after sorting out the oil pump bolt new oil and filters were fitted so the oil should stay pretty spotless.

Then treated her to some supergaz shock absorbers. I think these are great value shocks, I had them on my previous discovery and they really improved the handling and ride. And as both rear bump stops were missing I also added a set of those.

Got a few more goodies to fit after, still need to fit the front shocks then I’ve got some drilled and grooved discs and ebc pads to go on.

Forgot all about this thread until a minute ago. Fortunately I haven’t had to do much apart from drive the thing. I’ve had to change an air spring and another wheel bearing. Also put some performance brakes on.
I did get a custom remap on a 4 wheel rolling road so I’ll put up the details from that.

Quick write up about my stage 1 remap. Only had egr delete and boost is currently at 19psi peak.
So I thought about a remap for a while but was a bit skeptical of how much difference it would really make. Read a lot of people saying how much power it adds and how it transforms the vehicle but with no real evidence.
So here’s the printout from mine.

And here she is getting the work done.

The discovery really is transformed, pulls really strongly no longer need to change down gears as much and when driven sensibly mpg has definitely improved.
So if anyone is thinking about a remap definitely get it done.
