Did the newpaper test on the vicous coupling and happily chewed up the end of the paper and I though well thats a bit scary! Viscous coupling and fans on ebay are they OK or just look for the coupling or should the fan be changed as well due to age and cost of new radiator?

    Heating my Waxoyl

Thanks Storm99, laughed at that but could also empathise. As for heating as long as non pressurised water is used surely it should not reach more than 100C. I reckon my was around the 60C when being applied. Do I need to clean the back box though or will it burn off like oil?

    Heating my Waxoyl

Waxoyled the car to day and pondered the problem of warming the waxoly (5L can). In the end put it in a bucket of water and then got a wall paper steam striper and put the steaming pipe in the water. Opened the lid and removed the sealing bit. Left it for 1/2 hour whilst driving the car around...

what to use to make oil "sticky"??

linseed oil? Sorry more use to wood than metal plus it aint cheap but it might hold it all together. Or how about not cleaning the chassis first: oily muddy? Obviously not good for the one you have spent hours on. Shame about what you have said I have just spent £18 on a can of waxoyl and was...

    connector wanted

Hi Guys, sorry to start a new thread for this but assumed it might hit with a few more people. See previous threads for trouble with selecting the H/l range. At present I have made it work with a paper clip in the connector for the neutral select switch. I have managed to change the switch but...

Sort lived satisfaction: P38 manual netural switch

Are we the only two up then roddy4, we both must have been replying at the same time. No I have never removed a gearbox or done a clutch or anything big like that. As I say I think I might have to bodge it really. I was wondering if it is possible to drop the end of the gearbox down whilst...

Just trying to sort out this problem myself. I went under neath and took the connector of the netural select switch on my manual gearbox and inserted part of a paper clip and hey presto I had H/L range. But solving the problem with the car knowing it is stopped and in neutral is being more...

Sort lived satisfaction: P38 manual netural switch

Hi Guys, Well another evening spent making some progress. The main focus being changing the netural switch on the manual gearbox (p38 95 DT). I had tried all sorts but managed to find a piece of thinwalled octagonal tube at work that someone had turned in to a box spanner. It fitted a treat...

Hi Guys, P38 95 DT manual. When I bought the car I was told the central locking only worked on the key and new batteries had been tried. But I do not know if syncronisaion was tried. Having searched and read various threads I am wondering whether to try syncronising the key or just leave...
