Onboard computer: can you adjust it?

I would think a worn FIP would inject less not more. Due to leakage past the piston in the FIP? Don't know for sure but the total amount of fuel injected would be overstated for the mpg calculation.:)

    Yes. Just edited it!:o

Onboard computer: can you adjust it?

I wonder if a worn piston in the FIP might explain the symptoms? The fuel map requests say 48mg diesel/stroke and because the piston in the FIP is slightly worn it injects only 45 or 46mg. Yet it uses the figure of 48mg for the calculation. Just a thought.:)

Onboard computer: can you adjust it?

Yes, I agree. I am pretty certain diesels calculate the fuel quantity used by totalising the EDC fuel quantity readings in the mapping chip. What makes me think that ? I have got several eprom chips with different maps. When I try one in particular that I have got the mpg is a mile out. Like...

Faultmate MSV2 - thinking of biting the bullet

No, you don't pay it twice ! It is paid at source in the EU. You pay only the Cyprus VAT.

Cyprus is in the EU so no import duty to pay. They add on their own VAT though.

Faultmate MSV2 - thinking of biting the bullet

Just reread your post. If you want to alter the settings in the BCU then AllComs will not currently do it. Storey has yet to complete this. Likewise the lighting module and there is also no mention at all of a fuel burning heater.

Faultmate MSV2 - thinking of biting the bullet

I bought a Faultmate with a single vehicle licence for my p38. It works well I must say. I later bought another Faultmate secondhand with some additional modules on it that I didn't have. I wanted to transfer the modules over then sell on the second one. Blackbox refused to issue codes to me to...

    Blackbox help

Powering down the Faultmate and rebooting it sometimes works. Also make sure you are on the latest Blackbox software and firmware. Could possibly be a problem with the com port on your PC. The Blackbox support forum should be able to help. If you get the free EAS software and lead as well and...

DSE -Removing viscous fan when a sharp tap just isn't enough

Do what I did and unbolt the water pump and take the two off in one piece. Probably loose some skin off your knuckles. When it was off I cut the top of the fan shroud with a bandsaw and made up a couple of clips either side to hold the top piece back in place. Next time I need to do it I can...

DSE -Removing viscous fan when a sharp tap just isn't enough

When I did mine, I also couldn't get the nut undone. Hadn't been off in 11 years plus I was knocking it the wrong way and tightening it ! I unscrewed the waterpump bolts and took the pump and fan off in one piece. Bit awkward but can be done. Then separate the pump and fan in a vice.

    dse auto gearbox question

Datatek: I will ask the question. Sean: If you know someone who can change the gear change points in the ECU that will be very interesting. As I understand it it is a Bosch ECU and it is encrypted.

    dse auto gearbox question

Yes, it says with the HP24 front end fitted it is 15mm longer. Presumably this means the pump housing. However I was told that with the shorter diesel tailend fitted as well it works out the same length. Will clarify when I am down there.

I am no expert either. Have you seen this link:- Ashcroft Transmissions - TD5 Defender Auto Kit Info on the HP22 box upgrade is further down the page.

    dse auto gearbox question

Datatek: As I said Ashcrofts are doing the whole job. I was going to change the box myself but I chickened out. I don't have all the gear - although I have taken out a classic box by myself. It came out from inside through the door. I think if you take the transfer box off and do it in two...

    Any ideas what has happend?

The radiator splitting the plastic across the top is pretty common. Mine went on my diesel last year towing up a steep hill. It blew with such force it blasted a big hole in the underbonnet insulation. I would be looking at you intercooler to see if any damage was caused. The symptoms you...

    dse auto gearbox question

Let me just clarify a few points with the gearboxes as best I can - and don't shoot the messenger, I got all this from Dave Ashcroft. I have just spent a day taking my gearbox down there and picking his brains. Firstly I must say the setup at Ashcrofts is pretty impressive. I had a tour around...

    dse auto gearbox question

I have got the story on the gearboxes: There are 3 gearboxes for the p38. The HP22 and two HP24 variations - early and late. The late type is identified by 065 as the last number on the name plate. With the diesel bellhousing this box works out the same length overall as the diesel HP22. It...

    Cheap maintenance chargers.

I have just bought the Aldi smart charger for £13.99. 3.8A and has a nice panel showing volts and which stage it is at. I have got a small ctek as well and I would say the Aldi one is better.
