    BECM - prophylactic

I think the weak point is the fuse holder part at the front. That Liquipel treatment looks interesting. Anyone want to be the guinea pig?

    BECM - prophylactic

Several p38 owners on Rangerovers.net have tried using sealant to waterproof the BECM. It was reported that they all overheated leading to component failure. Don't know of any that were successful.

    Intercoolers and oil coolers

If it is an Allisport intercooler, it fits underneath the engine oil cooler. I think JFearne used them. Just unbolt it and lift it out of the way. No need to disconnect the hoses. The intercooler drops right down and rests on the chassis rails. The oil cooler slots back in on top. You will need...

    diesel auto gearbox

Wammers, That is interesting info on the gearboxes. It nicely summarises what I had to find out the hard way doing a HP22/HP24 swap. Where did it come from might I ask?

can you , or how you adjust idling rpm diesel,,,

Tickover rpm is set in the Bosch engine ECU. I have got a couple of Faultmate scans but I can't paste them. The setting is under "IDLE VALUE". On my ECU the setting says 128 for a tickover of 750rpm. On a spare ECU it says 132.

    Annoying new suspension problem

I've used a temporary isolating valve in the past to help pinpoint a problem. I used a cheap plastic 6mm valve from Ebay. De pressurise, fit the valve in the airline to the suspect air bag, re-pressurise, level the car, take out the EAS relay, close the isolating valve to the air bag. If it...

Possibly the kick down cable needs adjusting.

    General grabber 16s

I've got 16" 255/65 GG AT's, the standard size. I think the pattern on the new ones has changed now. Mine are the older ones about 18 months old. Great off road and in mud. Little bit noisier on road and steering not quite as precise as Pirelli Scorpions. Overall a great tyre.

    Front to rear brake pipes

I can tell you where the rear pipes should go. I made a note when I did mine:- top 22 is RHR bottom 21 is LHR

2.5 DSE - Cracked head without overheating ?

I have edited my earlier post. I think I was confusing diesel and petrol rads.

Autocar - history of the Range Rover

I have had mine for 10 years and it has been very reliable. The problems have been with all the rubber bits that perish - air bags/ o-rings/ hoses etc. Underneath it is very good. Little sign of corrosion. I have no regrets buying it.

2.5 DSE - Cracked head without overheating ?

If you put the heater on when the coolant is hot and it works OK it will prove the water pump is working.

    eka code ???

I know about the EKA code being set to 1515 for certain export markets - mainly the US. You are saying that there is a L/R master code of 1515 for emergency key access to all p38's? First I have heard of it in 10 years ownership. It means all p38's can get nicked - assuming anyone wants one.

    eka code ???

You have lost me. Are you talking about the EMS code that syncs the engine ECU to the BECM?
