People talk of a mysterious wiring grommet on the wing. anyone got a pic of it in situ, and the fix applied?

Just done mine in about 3 hours including painting in the sunshine. Looks fantastic. Just used up some old grey emulsion. Does it have to be bathroom paint ? they are all rubber these days

Would that not manifest itself at all times? Once ive started her, shes fine all day (perhaps a little slower on the uptake after 4 hours or so)

Yes thats what we thought hence fitting new lift pump and a non return valve on the pipe.

Yeah once started it will start on the nail. Until you leave it for 4 + hours

Hi A very fed up 300tdi owner. Been having recurring starting issues for about a month. Symptom = turns over for ever and if im lucky eventually starts with an enormous plume of white smoke, if im unlucky the battery just drains. Tried new glow plugs, new fuel pump, and a non return valve on...

I have this issue and no sunroof. I thought it may be dripping from inside the wing, from a drain hole under the windscreen. I welded up the hole where the ingress was in the footwell, and its still puddling there after heavy pour (esp if its leaning to the right)

I had to get a new barrel just to get the plastic bit :/ However, I took the key out, and now have a rather fun puzzle to do later as all the bits fell out (Im glad I can still use the master key) Thanks for your help BTW

Yes it works fine, but because of the slight difference in the way it works, the part of the red cog that meets the key is smaller than the gap so there is a bit of play, and I suspect it will wear down
