    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

Thanks for the thought. As I'm in no great hurry to sort this, I'll probably order and say so. In our normal summer temperatures I just press the down buton until nothing further happens. Then turn the fan knob 3 or 4 full turns and leave it at that. Then if it gets a bit chilly I open a window...

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

I think I had already reached the conclusion about keeping as spares, but your pessimism (realism?) about 1 month made me smile.

Thanks for pointing me to Marty's website. I have just downloaded his first-rate 19-page instruction manual. Now that I can see exactly what is involved I will definitely be ordering his repair widget. I plan to repair the original control panel so that when I've done it, I can swap them over...

Well, I'm suitably impressed, but I can't help but wonder if any of our colleagues on here will contribute more imaginative observations.
  6. Pression de Gonflage

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

Thanks Brian. Sounds like a sensible idea, but having replaced them, I hope these bits will not be needed in the foreseeable future. If someone else needs them urgently, no doubt they'll sing out. I am going to be asking much the same questions about the aircon control panel, but I guess I...

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

Just when you thought that it was safe to open these pages, I have one final (maybe....) point to make on the no longer vexed question of my recalcitrant EAS. As some will know I worked my way guided-by-you way through the system and replaced all or most of the bits that were faulty or might...

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

I was on the point of asking if all was well with you, as we have just today seen Lytton on French tv news. Dreadful.

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

Thanks Brian. I will have a look at the market section. I must confess I hadn't thought about the physical protection aspect of these shields.Perhaps something heavier than the original version for a bit of rock protection ?

....with jump leads on the taps perhaps ?

Not a face book user so I didn't know it was a sales site, but I'll have a look.

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

We do get up to 42c here but usually only for a few days at a time so behind our stone walls we mostly keep cool. At present we are going through the Monsoon season. Bet not many people know that France has a Monsoon season. Been here 13 years and it's the first one we've seen.

But how would I achieve that carefully figured rustic finish ?
  14. Pression de Gonflage

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

Almost exactly what I had in mind. Hardly worth metal-bashing at home at that price, and much cheaper than the LR official part. Thank you

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

Hello Gord. Thank you for taking the trouble to provide more input. I take your point but I had in mind that it would be clamped to the pipe, not flush with the surface, but with simple "stand-off" brackets allowing airflow 'twixt pipe and shield. It seemed to work on the Cobra with only about...

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

Excellent idea. I believe that this is what intellectuals call lateral thinking. I can't see any reason at all for not fixing a shield to the exhaust rather than the chassis. I think without any insulation layer it would act as heat shield and heat sink. Perhaps a few holes would help. also...

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

I think you're right and I'm not sure what my enormous riveter would do to soft plasterboard, always assuming that there is room for it under there. I think I'll just have a close look at the sensor next time I can get it on Monsieur Renaul's ramp and see if it looks affected. Thanks for your...

    NOT Red Wine then ?

    P38A EAS, WHAT ELSE....AGAIN

Good afternoon Marjon. Thank you for joining the party. AND thank you for taking the trouble to take the photographs. At least I now know what mine should have looked like. It wasn't as smart as yours and there certainly wasn't that much left of it. Eventually I think that I will make something...
