Almost exactly what I had in mind. Hardly worth metal-bashing at home at that price, and much cheaper than the LR official part. Thank youSomething like this, even homemade, has minimal conductive transfer to a large area, with an airflow gap that will give lower surface temp and lower radiant than the directly heated exhaust would.

But how would I achieve that carefully figured rustic finish ?Almost exactly what I had in mind. Hardly worth metal-bashing at home at that price, and much cheaper than the LR official part. Thank you
Hello Gord.
Thank you for taking the trouble to provide more input.
I take your point but I had in mind that it would be clamped to the pipe, not flush with the surface, but with simple "stand-off" brackets allowing airflow 'twixt pipe and shield. It seemed to work on the Cobra with only about half an inch gap. With aid of a suitable blunt instrument, the leading edge might even be flared slightly to increase airflow.l
What do you think ?
Regards
Tony
p.s. I hope you are not suffering too much from the heat there.
Looking at the brackets on other posts I suppose they would work if you could get them far enough away from the exhaust pipe. Maybe line the inside of the bracket with 1/2 inch of fiberglass insulation.
As for the heat in British Columbia I was certainly suffering in 42C over the weekend. Thanks for the sympathy. Never experienced it that hot before. Started to cool down on Tuesday and today it is cloudy and a pleasant 25C. In a way the 42 was not as bad as the 30 with 100% relativity I have experienced in southern Ontario. Talk about sweating...
Not a face book user so I didn't know it was a sales site, but I'll have a look.I missed a pair of those shields on face book last year made out off stainless steel with a landrover logo on, they were to far away to be worth while
....with jump leads on the taps perhaps ?Couple of days in a bath of salt water and mild acid? The part, not you in the bath obviously. Most of us wouldn't want that as a personal finish...

Love BC but that's too hot for me.
Seen the news reports, bl**dy hell. Hope eveyone is safeIt is too hot for everyone but very unusual for the Vancouver area. Here in Chilliwack we broke a record for hottest June 27 that was 141 years old. The town of Lytton set three consecutive records for the hottest temperatures recorded anywhere in Canada and then the whole town burnt to the ground. They are still not sure if everyone escaped.
Sounds like a sensible idea, but having replaced them, I hope these bits will not be needed in the foreseeable future.Refurb them and keep them as spares to swap out when needed
If you have a look on the Bay there is someone selling a Zebra ribbon connector.i typed in P38 range rover hevac repair . there is a video showing the replacement as well. Thanks Brian.

If someone else needs them urgently, no doubt they'll sing out.
I am going to be asking much the same questions about the aircon control panel, but I guess I should start a new thread on the subject. Oh heck, I'll mention it anyway and risk moderators shouting at me. (I suppose these forums do have moderators...?) . Some years ago I swapped out my aircon control panel because the little green numbers had become illegible. Now the replacement has gone the same way. I read somewhere that this can be fixed by replacing some rather fragile ribbon connectors/cables. Has anyone any experience of doing it ? is it simple ? Is it effective ? Now where should I have posted this ?
Thanks Brian.
