Old land rover claims 1400 victims

Fair enough. There was a pic on the BBC website where it looked a lot more 'extinguishable'...

Old land rover claims 1400 victims

Think maybe you're right about it being a Classic...it would be interesting to know for sure. And then speculate as to why it went on fire... Interesting too that it seems there was time for pics to be taken, but no time to aim an extinguisher at it?

Good to see u back.:) I have an Alphaline, as recommended by you some while ago. 3 years old now and never a moments hesitation so always starts well (apart from when there are glowplug failures, spill pipes leaks ...)

Merry Christmas to you all. Loads of help and advice much appreciated. What is lacking in 'political correctness' is more than made up for by the good humour!:)

    P38A Oh Flip - it's the FIP

'Morning All, Having had the manifold off and replaced another two glowplugs, I've found a slight leak of fuel coming from the pump. Has anyone got a pic of the FIP? Those on RAVE don't really show the whole thing. I'm a bit wary of trying to do too much with it (limited ability!) but would...

    P38A Here's a useful tool...

Slight cold starting difficulties recently so thought it time to check the glow plugs again. (I know there's another ongoing thread about these) For those of us who don't have magnetic sockets etc. here's a tip that'll stop you dropping things - A rubber spark plug connector is really handy...

    Srs light on

Ok sorry about that red herring. I'm going to bed.:(

    Srs light on

Mine is a 2001 DT. SRS light started intermittently staying on after initial check. Cleaning the connector(s) did it. After initial check it now goes off, didn't need to clear the fault (tho' it may well be logged still, I don't know). I understand that it is an MOT failure if it doesn't go off...

    Srs light on

 Oops! Demonstrating the old adage - 'Better to keep your mouth shut and be suspected of being a fool than opening it and proving it' (But he should still check the connectors...):)

    Srs light on

Check all the connectors - especially the ones under the seats. (they are the easiest to get to :)) see Rave for location. A squirt of contact cleaner and put back together and that was what sorted my SRS light. Good luck

P38A Lift pump? relay? solenoid? Help!

Everything tickety boo! Got some 3mm silicone vacuum pipe (as previously recommended by Wammers). In between hail, snow and howling winds (we've had a lot of weather here today:eek:) replaced them all. Much churning of starter to get the pipes full again and since then 'on the button' - starting...

P38A Lift pump? relay? solenoid? Help!

Yup - clear pip already fotted :) - and there were bubbles. Is this a sign that air is being drawn back in via spill off pips? (but why no NVR at the filter?)

P38A Lift pump? relay? solenoid? Help!

Thanks - I'll have a look tomorrow (I'm not going out again - I got snowed on earlier!) I did replace them a couple of years ago. Pipe I got from a place I was doing a job. It was a cheapish sort of a place right enough!
