    sounds more like the compression on yours but on the cheap you can do a hell of a lot of good for it such as take the injectors out and soak them in thinners for a couple of hours then scrub with an old toothbrush ( they come up like brand new ) another thing i did was take the inlet...

    if they were britpart i wouldnt be surprised and thinkin about it mine did that after i had mine timed up to the bollox aswell so might not have been age but they were original and appear to be the weakest link in the cam to valve train in my opinion :rolleyes:

    i had the same thing with me diesel 2.25 and it turned out to be the tappet cam roller follower had done this due to age

    Been here before.....

    the discos of that period are pretty cheap to get hold of but there are verry few and far between to find one with a solid boot floor sills front and rear wheelarches and floorpans if your going looking at any discos it dont matter how shiny and clean they are just make damn sure you inspect...

    Rough cost of welding?

    dunno what yer been quoted but round these parts the usual rule of thumb at the moment is about £65 for a patch the size of a creddit card this is why i can undercut most garages round here :D:D

    best advice i can give for putting it back on is to lift the back end and sit a length of 3x2 timber on top of the chassis crossmember to clear the rear fixing tabs then drape some old carpet over that then stand on the chassis where the seatbox was and just slide the bugger off the back end...

    turn yer idles up ( put the hand throttle 2 clicks up ) thats what mine did it looked and was set up according to the manual but wasnt quite up far enough as it was starving of fuel also advance the pump by 1 degree ;)

    what colour is the smoke from yer exhaust and does it run on 3 cylinders at the time if its white smoke yer need te advance the pump by 1 degree then bleed the 2 little nipples on the pump then get her running with yer idle raised to give a bit of speed ( fast idle) then crack off number...
