Morning all,

I'm having a few problems with the 2.25 diesel. Its had recon injector pump, new lift pump and one new rocker to replace a broken one. Set all the tappets but it just will not start.

I've had the injectors out but i put them all back in in the right order.

System has all been bled but on pot number 3, when i try and bleed the injector pipe, i seem to get big puffs of air coming from the injector?

Any one got any ideas?

Thanks
mat

hi there,i have just had the same probolem with mine yestarday after putting a new lift pump and filter on it! all i done was cracked off the two bleed screws on the pump, give the leaver on the lift pump a few pumps, and turn her over a few times, until the air is bled out of the pump! then crack the injectors off and bleed them up,tighten the injector pipes up,and bleed screws, and try and fire her up! make sure you have plenty of cranking power,it does help! note: these can be a rite pain to bleed,so persavier with it,she will go eventuly! :D hope this helps!

what colour is the smoke from yer exhaust and does it run on 3 cylinders at the time

if its white smoke yer need te advance the pump by 1 degree then bleed the 2 little nipples on the pump

then get her running with yer idle raised to give a bit of speed ( fast idle) then crack off number 3 and wait for the diesel squirt tighten it then crack injector 1 to get the last of the air out failing that the air has gone the other way and number 4 needs doing

i dunno what it is bout recon CAV pumps but they seem to get a mysterious air lock that stops number 3 when first bled up that seems to move throughout the system evry time yer try and remove it

It is white smoke but it doesnt run on 3 cylinders, it very almost runs but just doesnt have that last bit to get it going over.

turn yer idles up ( put the hand throttle 2 clicks up ) thats what mine did it looked and was set up according to the manual but wasnt quite up far enough as it was starving of fuel

also advance the pump by 1 degree ;)

johnny how does your do with hills? I know they are crappy, but mine loses all power even on a slight incline. (tis a 110 btw). I was wondering what was more likely, duff timing/ijector (timing chain is slack but i played with the pump) or compression is well whacked or anything else.

sounds more like the compression on yours but on the cheap you can do a hell of a lot of good for it such as

take the injectors out and soak them in thinners for a couple of hours then scrub with an old toothbrush ( they come up like brand new )

another thing i did was take the inlet fanimold off and clean all the crap out of that aswell as cleaning the air filter out with a blast of petrol

i also found that slackening the retaining bolts off on the pump while its running then advancing it slowly till i see blue hazey smoke then backing off a bit did it the world of good as far as power is concerned

and hills were no problem at all even with a 2 tonne trailer full of 20mm chippings on the back ( just gave a bit of black smoke )

and it wont be long before ive got her running again with me home machined skew gear bush to see how she runs then ;)

Cleaned the injectors. I couldn't really turn the pump wihtout slackening all the pipes off. Doing it warm deffo helps with the adjusting btw.

I'm not sure if i should take the head off or not, old 3 bearing.. unknown mileage.. prolly makes more sense to hold out till i find a scrapper 200/300

I'd also jump from another running car and just crank the bugger till it fires, or until you think you will break something
