That sounds about right as this is the oil pressure switch plug with only the black wire which doesn't connect to anything in the socket as there is no pin. The part of the plug that connects to a pin has no wire attached. What does this pressure switch actually do? It can't have been that...

Thanks. I have checked again today and in better sunlight with reading glasses on I discovered it is white/brown and checking with a meter it goes to this grey connector. I have no idea where it goes from here though.

You could go to a ,lot of trouble and then after a few trips she will have lost interest and won't want to go in it again.

Try turning the engine with a socket on the crank pulley. Has the oil pump sprocket bolt been changed to the upgraded one with loctite on it?

Fixed the bumper last week using fibreglass matting and resin. Couldn't do much about chevrons but looks better. One broken part and holes where i had reversing camera and connection for horse trailer camera. This was the broken bit.

Looking back at the old post, I made the mistake of not bending back the tabs by the top two bolts which meant it needed more force to pull the gearbox out. I had to bend them further to get the gearbox back on anyway.

The reason I asked about the bolts is that there is a tiny bolt that fits through the plate at the top on the passenger side in the engine bay. I had to use quite a lot of force to extract ours.

How were you going to support it without a hoist? They are heavy. Have you taken all 9 bolts out?

Irwin bolt removers are very good but they don't seem to do 15mm.

It fits through the engine plate, but you would need to remove the bellhousing to remove the plate.

The stud the nut fits on is fitted into the gearbox. What size socket have you been using?

The current values of discos is just about a bit higher than the price of an AMC head. Weird that it would certainly be worth it on a defender from purely financial reasons but not on a disco.

I had similar problem with mine. Changed seals and washers twice. Didn't cure the problem. Diesel filling sump at an increasing rate until one day the engine blew up. I can't be certain this damage was caused by oil thinned down by diesel but it would be a big coincidence otherwise. Is it...

I don't know anything about x-trails. What made your x-trail so bad? Just curious.

23mpg is what we got from ours back in the days when I used to check it. You will see some figures that are higher than the manufacturers claimed figures, which are unlikely to ever be repeated.

Even copper wires corrode if exposed to enough water.
