Try a pulley on it first but fishing the broken key out in situ that engine micro surgery . Sump off might be easier though .

Check it's not chipped as it might be out of balance and is the key way worn . I don't advise any weld maybe loctite but not weld .

Hi are you sure you got the stop rod in the the place it s easy to miss a line it and difficult to tell take the top off and double check it . Your pump may have a stop solenoid but it might well still have the Mechanical stop too .

Common practice by some engine rebuilders blocks are the same as long as it s not a turbo it should be ok .

Get a 2.5 petrol and a manifold for a stromberg carb that ll give you better economy and a slight power increase and if feel like it look for some high compression pistons that will help .

Take that butterfly off the inlet and throw it power sapping crap . Get a transit alt with piggyback vac pump needs an oil feed and return I did my 2.25 and it was much better .I picked oil feed from the head at the rear and welded a pipe in the sump for a return .

Has it marked the cylinder wall if it's not put a decent used piston in but check it out very throughly for wear and see how well the ring s fit etc don't waste your money on copy pistons they are never just right and a used gen one will be as good and definately get the injectors checked that's...

You can just see the top of the inlet manifold of Bmw diesel it's sat a lot lower down and it helps with handling a LOT !!! .if can think on tonight I ll get a couple of pictures and put them on .

It's not cheap 570 I think it was .diesel bob in Ribchester lancashire he will mess about with pumps where as most just want sell you a new one . You lose a little top end power but gain lots of low down torque

I had a mechanical pump done by diesel bob .its a tight fit to get it in but once it's sat on its mounts it's not too bad for room that is until you refit that stupid inlet manifold .I was doing a bit on it tonight and meant to get a pic but I completely forgot

Hello I'm dean I've got 61 series 2 and I've fitted it with a p38 2.5 diesel and bolted up to a series box I've done about 20000 in it with no gearbox issues so far . I'm just on with changing a few bits I didn't like eg having no engine fan and fitting a defender rad and intercooler etc .
