Indicators turn on as hazards randomly

Here is a link for you lot :) http://www.polevolt.co.uk/acatalog/Diodes.html This is Polevolt's diode page. Look down the list and you will find a similar in line diode but there is also a fuse shaped diode. Just crimp a fuse holder into the wire from the indicator sides and push the diode...

Who here has fitted puma doors to an earlier defender?

My doors still are not the best fit. I'd love to see a tutorial showing how to get the best fit! Oh and change the door seals if they are not perfect.

Replacing front calipers, discs and pads.

I'm replacing the calipers, pads and discs anyway so thought I'd stick the higher spec ones on as effectively the cost of the "upgrade" is only the difference in price. With all the additions the car is heavier so thought I might as well.

Replacing front calipers, discs and pads.

I have solid discs on the front of my 300TDi. I replaced the rear calipers, discs and pads last year and thought I would do the same to the front this year. If I buy vented calipers and discs plus pads will they just fit?

Who here has fitted puma doors to an earlier defender?

I have 2012 Puma doors on my 300TDi complete with windows. The wiring diagram is in my tutorial if you are interested. I would try and get a whole door with them as the card is slightly different too. I paid £600 for a pair of NEW doors, cards and alloy handles so there are some about (price...

Indicators turn on as hazards randomly

This is MY favourite device for electrical testing....... It's VERY simple, no battery to run out and very visual. Yes a multimeter is more flexible but it takes longer to settle, it is harder to see a result etc. Personally I'd advise people to get both. Just attach the clamp to the...

Indicators turn on as hazards randomly

My 300 Tdi had left and right indicators going to the dash if yours does not then you can still sort it by taking wires from the left and right indicator circuits. Just check behind the dash and use a test light to locate them.

Indicators turn on as hazards randomly

Yes a diode is just simply an electrical one way valve! So if you add them to both left and right indicators tell tail wires the signal will pass through the diode to the bulb and on to ground but cannot pass through the diode going to the other indicator because it will be effectively pointing...

Indicators turn on as hazards randomly

Yes as per the post earlier. They are exactly the same as the electronics ones like 1N4001 etc but in a package more conducive to being in a car. You can get them or similar from a decent electrical automotive place but I just happen to know the jaguar part number as above and at about a pound...

Indicators turn on as hazards randomly

If you are not good with a soldering iron use the jaguar diodes. They have a male and female spade connector and are very simple to fit. Literally cut two wires and add crimps. I knew the RDX relay wouldn't work as it cannot sort the issue out baring in mind where it actually fits although with...

Broke my 24mm doing the rear tie bars on the Defender, both normal and long ones split (I'll get new Clarke ones they are ok)...... My own fault as I couldn't be arsed going through the house to the garage to get the impact ones then used my 450Nm impact gun :D I even had a 3/4" socket in the...

    Wipac LED light conversion

Another way to do this without soldering is as follows: You will need: 1 x 3 "screw terminal blocks" 2 x diodes 1N4008 or similar 1 x can of your favourite alcoholic drink Now mentally label the holes of the terminal block as follows: A B C D E F Now take one diode and look for the...

    Wipac LED light conversion

Go to Brit-car.co.uk and search for the jaguar part number. They are about £1.30 there plus postage or any electrical motor place will do them for about a pound. I used Brit-car's image hence knowing that they sell them but they are only ordered to fulfil an order so will take a few days

    Wipac LED light conversion

At that price I'd just use the ones above which are then easily removable and replaceable plus it's a very tidy option.

    Wipac LED light conversion

If people really cannot solder you can buy crimp able diodes from an auto electrical place for about a pound each.... Basically like the above although you can get the with bullet crimps (like on a Mk1 mondeo). They have a male and female terminal on them as they are directional (the female...
