    P38A P38 Prices?

It really was showroom. Amazing really. I guess some have an easy life with just a few owners. Remember it only takes one owner to bugger the lot up.

    P38A P38 Prices?

I think they are really common in the UK. Esp diesels. As usual the ones to collect are special editions with v8 engines. The ones to use are manual diesels with bog trim.someway to go before there worth anything. I saw a stunning w plate diesel up the road a few weeks ago. How was it so bloody...

P38A Coolant O ring part number needed

Oem min. Is this a v8? Or doezil? On a v8 the stats are gates and cost £60. On a diesel I dunno. Don't buy cheap. Mine didn't close very well. So it never warmed up brrrrr.

    P38A Oil pump 4.6 thour

Very easy just line up the square dots and push on to the crank woodruff. The cam is just held with a notch on cam and gear. And secured with a bolt( on the gems anyway) Different styles of timing gear is available. Floppy or stiff matron? Not sure what's best TBH.or where from. But the cam...

P38A OIls : how good is the new britpart10/40 semi synthetic

Just to add a caveat away from brands as such. The wife runs a 1.4 tdci Ford. A psa engine. I have only ever run Ford application oils in this car. Any brand as long as it's "for Ford applications" because these engines have a tendency to egr and injector problems both of which can contaminate...

P38A OIls : how good is the new britpart10/40 semi synthetic

Oil is a touchy subject for many. Tell people there oils no good and you've lit the blue touchpaper! V8s are funny old engines but there very expensive to rebuild and as such I think need the very best oil. What that is goes from universal tractor oil to the cheap 20/50 to fully synth 5/40 and...

P38A OIls : how good is the new britpart10/40 semi synthetic

Magnatec is a premium priced product and fairly well suited. Overpriced for a semi though. And only in 4l. Could have more zddp to. Miller's products are also very suitable.

P38A I think crank sensor, what do you guys think?

Crank sensors can cut in and out. Check for rpm signal during cut out.( By looking at the Rev counter whilst turning over should read 200 or so) if nothing then crank sensor. They often work whilst cold and driving(cooling air) but will cut out during heat soak( stopped or in traffic) Jb

    P38A Heated Windscreen

It's true they are a great addition making cold mornings a doddle. It's also true they aren't common. Honda don't have one. A few others don't either but many petrol cars warm up very quickly anyway. The Ford ones can be a bit feeble on very cold mornings. P38 ones are powerful though. I prefer...

P38A OIls : how good is the new britpart10/40 semi synthetic

What's £120 for 8 litres? Penrite hpr is £120 for 20 litres Inc delivery. Hot hatches 10/40 ss with zddp is much cheaper. Castrol edge is very pricey though. And still only hydrocrack.

P38A OIls : how good is the new britpart10/40 semi synthetic

Zddp i feel is important on the v8. Not on the diesel so much. Lumpy cams and strong valve springs make it extra useful. Classic oils bicester do a high zddp 10/40 for hot hatches. I prefer the penrite though. I definitely don ot like 20/50 mineral.

P38A OIls : how good is the new britpart10/40 semi synthetic

Unless it was cheap I'd steer clear. Britpart is not a desirable brand thanks to there past record. After starting a thread on oil not long back many will say use cheap 20/50. I think use penrite hpr 10/50 hydrocracked fs But 10/40 is one of the correct viscosities. Jb

    Carbon Canister P38

Mine does exactly the same. Re pressure in the tank. The rate these use juice I don't think the pressure ever gets that high before a fill up.

    Mpg after rebuild

Lpg is is another story. But it used to be reckoned that on the dash mpg should be the same on both fuels. This meant the fuel map was correct. I'm not clever enough to know if that's true or not! Ally v8 thought that Thor management was much quicker to adjust to lpg though. The dash mpg is...

    P38A Thor engine oil pump

When I reconned mine I put a new shaft and steel rockers on one side. So poor was the tolerance the oil pressure light immediatly came on. I went to Charles a r/r breakers brought a used one for a tenner fitted it.....job done. Rimmer's will show what's available.steel ones are so the pads don't...

    Viscous Coupling Unit

I'd be surprised if the vcu has been changed in mine at 150000! I think many are on the edge of seizing. But I think they are reasonably robust. If your wheels are roughly similar and you drive in a normal way then they aren't failing all the time like the early freelanders. I think they had a...

    P38A Thor engine oil pump

I agree rockers can wear severely . Check them in situ by sliding to the side and feeling underneath for a deep ridge. It will have one it's just how deep! I've found replacement problematic as good uns are not easily available and originals are vastly expensive. The replacement is easy though...
