Disco 2 A/C Compressor Bolt Came Out

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago, but the front plate got damaged as it was bouncing off various bits of the engine before stopping on the engine undertray. I bought a second hand compressor to get the front plate, bolt etc (cheaper than a new plate) & found there was an...

    Disco 2 Speaker upgrades

There was no amplifier on the speakers in the back of ours (High Line amp equipped) or the vehicle I removed another speaker trim from. Why would there need to be , when the main amp has separate outputs for every channel ?

    Disco 2 Speaker upgrades

Beware the standard speakers are all 4 ohm resistance & very efficient (High output per watt of input dB/W) - which is very rare in aftermarket speakers. Fitting some aftermarket standard 8 ohm speakers will often result in inadequate volume from the aftermarket units compared to the standard...

Discovery startmoter running, sometimes engine wont start

Are you saying the engine turns over when the starter motor runs, but the engine will then not fire up / continue ? Edit : Great minds think alike - lol

    Disco 2 Squeaky Brake Pedal

Have you lowered the fusebox access panel yet? You might see it and be able to squirt wd40 through a long nozzle at it.

    Tow bar mounting kit

If you have got the towbar fully assembled, it should only be the 2 M14s & 2 M16s + associated washers & nuts. have you looked at the fitting instructions ? As an example, there's a copy here ...

    Tow bar mounting kit

There are good nut & bolt suppliers on eBay - usually at reasonable prices

    Tow bar mounting kit

I'm afraid the mounting kit isn't available as a separate part number - only wirh the tow bar. You'll have to find the bolt specs & buy individually (NB all 10. 9 grade minimum)

Medium duty front heavy duty rear springs?

Heavy Duty Rear springs are an incredibly high spring rate with most suppliers - typically 320 lb / inch compared to standard of 160 lb/in. The normal recommendation to fit these is only when your regularly carrying many 100s lbs of extra gear in the rear - otherwise they're far too hard. Even...

    Prop shaft damage

Whoever was driving it in that condition had no mechanical sympathy at all & makes you wonder what else was probably abused, I've run for 30 miles or so with a mildly knackered rubber coupling on 2 occasions & that resulted in minor marking of the metalwork & a horrible droning noise / out of...

    Disco 2 wheel spacers

Spacers place the same additional stress as modulars - which lots of people use for severe off-roading with no more problems than slightly reduced wheel bearing life. You should only find 30mm spacers as anything thinner means either extended wheel studs (very rare) or very thin sections in the...

Disco 2 Fitting dickie seats to my 5 seat TD5

Yes, you only have to wedge it in there. It needs to be cut to a length to sit on the frame tubes each side - but not too long to go into the gap in the trim panel where the seat sits when "up".

Disco 2 Fitting dickie seats to my 5 seat TD5

The Avenger4x4 adverts appear to have everything & are both the non-aircon versions. if you look at the photos with the long black pressed steel bracket (non air-con version), you can see the different shape vs the one in the video which was "stepped" & had the extra upright section to fasten...

Disco 2 Fitting dickie seats to my 5 seat TD5

On the video, it shows the mounting "frame" /bracket for the LH seat being installed. The bracket he shows is specifically for variants with rear aircon - which possible, but rare in the Uk. If used it pushes ths lh seat quite a lot further towards the centre of the car & makes the whole load...

    Where to buy modulars

paddocks are usually a very good price, but some tyre suppliers might to a better deal with tyres Update : PS I'm not sure if there are any different offsets for D2 modulars. Most suppliers don't understand if the they have 25mm increased offset (above the standard D2 57mm) or 25mm actual offset...

Steering problem in LR4 - Strange one

Not sure what engine you have and therefore the difficulty / cost of replacing the PAS pump. Ideally you need the pump output tested to confirm the fault diagnosis & ensure they aren't replacing a good pump - otherwise you could potentially waste £300 plus. A good garage will have the test...

Steering problem in LR4 - Strange one

I'm afraid "fine when cold" is a common faulty pump symptom. When its cold the fluid viscosity is higher so its easier for the pump to generate higher pressure. Once the engine and pump have been operating even briefly, the oil viscosity reduces & eg if there are internal leaks within the pump...

Steering problem in LR4 - Strange one

More likely the PAS pump is worn out / faulty. What mileage has the car got? I had to change the pump on our RR mk3 at 125,000, but obviously many last much longer.

    Rear corner bumper

As prep, install 1 clip in the hole in the side of the rear body panel & the other 2 in the front facing holes of the bumperette. Then line up the 2 rear clips with the 2 body holes while sliding the bumperette internal side slot over the head of the side clip. Give the rear face of the...

Disco 2 Front ARB Bushing bracket....HELP!

I think I remember that I fitted the bkt to the bush first after rotating the bush so that the bracket was lined up for the tab to be pushed the slot. It's then a matter of pushing the bracket onto the retaining stud while rotating it around the ARB.
