    Disco 1 200tdi with a Euro 4 catalytic converter

I must admit I hate the smell from my 300tdi, I think it seems more obvious as modern cars are so clean. I find the same smell in rural France as there are so many older diesels. Try a company who specialise in catalytic or emission treatments, they might know of something.

    Discovery 1 immobaliser

I've followed all the posts relating to EDC autos not starting as i encountered the issue as an intermittent non start. None of the posts come to any conclusion so i have to assume these vehicles were scrapped or converted to the manual pump. This is the first time I've seen any information...

    Disco 1 300TDI No Start

Out of interest, did you crack open any pipes after the pump to check for diesel?

    Disco 1 300TDI No Start

Is it manual or auto? Later autos don't have a spider in the dash. Did you try loosing off the fuel pipes into the injectors and trying the starter, possibly fuel not getting as far as them? Then work back. If there's no fuel, the solenoid is on the pipe between the fuel feed from the filter to...

I recorded over 200 trips on my 2017 Discovery Sport to find out if its DPF is fit for purpose

I followed a few Discovery Sport forums for a while as I'd like to have bought one. Main issues are well known, DPF and timing chains and mainly linked to short journeys. We all know on these forums that short journeys kill quite a few modern diesels but a salesman isn't going to disclose this...

Disco 2 Cheaply treat this invisible rust hidden deep in the door?

I use chain oil, sticky, creeps, and clings well. All oil tends to spread well but disperses eventually so I mix in a little Dinitrol cavity wax which seems to keep everything sticky. Not nice though if you have to work in that place.

2017 Discovery Sport 2.0 DPF rattle

I followed a Discovery Sport forum for a while as I was considering a purchase. I've no experience of them but forum opinions tended to be: Main dealer will recommend exchange but lots of people seem to have used jubilee clips or got a local garage to weld up.

    Disco 2 Dent removal

A lot of those repair kits are a total waste of time and money. Ask a local bodyshop for an expert opinion or a recommended dent removal expert. An alloy wing can also be more difficult to work with compared to steel.

    300 Tdi auto discovery

I'm no expert but I've never heard of anyone who can bypass the immobiliser, or even work on these pumps. In fact, is there an immobiliser on the Jap imports? I wouldn't advise digging too deep on your pump, I did on an old pump and damaged a seal causing a diesel leak.

Hi, any luck with your starting issue?

    300 Tdi auto discovery

Have you checked that it's getting diesel to the pump by loosing the union? If so, this might be a common problem and which I've yet to read of a solution. Most owners convert to a manual pump. I have bought a manual pump just in case I have this issue. I reckon if you had the right auto...

Disco 1 Part stc 4389 Throttle potentiometer for Disco 1 300tdi EDC 97

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a lot of specialist knowledge for the EDC system. Apparently some other cars run a similar system, possibly Vw. Perhaps try a general EDC search to see what turns up. I bought a manual pump for mine as a backup as I previously had to scrap another edc auto...

    Disco 1 Diesel runaway

I had it on a Citroën Xsara. Main dealer had done a 6k mile service to keep it in warranty. I was just about 150 yds up the road when it happened. Very scary and I hadn't a clue what happened. Clouds of white smoke, rev counter off the scale, ran for what seemed ages before it rattled and died...

    D1 300TDi - remove ABS thoughts?

I am pretty fussy about insurance and worked in the industry for over 20 years. If you tell an underwriter you've removed a feature which should enhance safety that will be noted, and possibly the company will decline to cover you. In the case I mentioned it was a practical solution, the pedal...

    D1 300TDi - remove ABS thoughts?

My bother removed his after endless trouble which his mechanic couldn't fix. Wouldn't worry about the insurance aspect, much safer without an intermittent Abs problem, and as said, only fitted to certain models.... and Japanese imports.

Disco 4 (LR4) advice on buying a used ulez compliant disco4

If you're in the general London area, perhaps you need to check with your insurers, some scare stories there also.

    Buying advice

Must admit I'd like one now that prices are falling. Unfortunately my wife is too practical and can't see why we should replace our ultra cheap to run, and reliable, old Octavia.

    Buying advice

I've been looking at them for a while. I reckon if you do mainly short trips, go for petrol as there don't seem to be any significant issues. Apparently the later examples are better, or perhaps too recent for problems to have builtp up. The 2.2 on the first ones seems good but you're into an...

    Electrical Issues after welding

I got minor bodywork repairs last year on an Octavia. Only a pin welder used to pull out a light crease. When I drove it after being returned to me, no indicators or headlights, plus boot catch clicking. Repairer said it had to be coincidence. Next day, no instruments working at all, everything...
