Good evening,
I recently purchase a 2017 Discovery Sport HSE Luxury 2.0 diesel. I have noticed a rattle when idling and when driving under light acceleration, there is a rattle coming from the DPF down pipe area.
After reading several forum posts, I have learned that it is very common for the DPF heat shield to come loose which causes the rattle. The issue is, the heat shield is part of the entire unit and cannot be purchased separately.
As a temporary measure, I put some large hose clips around it and applied tension, this has stopped the rattle when it’s idling however, as soon as I put it into gear and drive under light acceleration, the rattle re-appears.
Land Rover’s answer to this is to purchase a new DPF.
I can move the outer heat shield backwards and forwards slightly so it got me thinking, had anybody come up with a fix for this?
Is it possible to weld in the green circle within the attached photographs as this appears to be where it moves.
Thank you all in advance!
