    Tracing electrical fault

Hi, Got some odd electric issues with my 300tdi disco. When I switch on the rear window demister the central locking locks. If I turn it off the locks unlock. Had a similar problem- the side electric rear window switch made the interior fan stay on. "Solved" it by pulling switch out for now. I...

    Handbrake- cannot reconnect

Hi, Hope someone can help. Disconnected the handbrake cable as part of doing the clutch and now I can't get it back on! The cable reconnects fine but the ratchet doesn't work, the button is inoperable, it just doesn't catch and stick like it should, just falls back down. I'm wondering if the is...

    Weird electrics- rear window +heater?!?

Yeah, where does the circuit earth to the body? I'll look at the footwells and clean up/reattach them, see if that helps. I'll also try swapping switches, see if that shows a faulty one.

    Weird electrics- rear window +heater?!?

OK, anyone know which earth it would be for these two circuits? What i don't understand is- the window and the blower work fine independently. Why would they interfere with each other? Could the window switch be earthing the blower?

    Weird electrics- rear window +heater?!?

Hi, Got a weird electrics issue. The rear windows didn't work when I bought my discovery. Resoldered the ecu and the left works fine now. Got around to inspecting the right hand window today and found that it had been disconnected. Reconnected it and found out why: When right rear window...

Yeah, split pin is out. The only part of it that wasn't rusted! Excellent, thanks! Will get one tomorrow and have a go. Prefer to use socket if possible, then I can use the breaker bar on it

    A frame balljoint nut removal

Yeah, tried to look for shallow sockets but can't seem to find anything on 30mm that fits. Not keen on grinding down a socket either unless I have to. Looked a a grinder on the nut but doesn't fit. Never had lot of success using cold chisel to split nut before but will try if I can't find a...

    Hi, new member from MK

Nah, not too worried, if worst comes to the worst got full Euro breakdown cover to get back again :). Just fully serviced it, runs well, went through MOT alright. All of its issues are stuff that can wait- sunroofs don't work, rear window doesn't work, clunk on power take up (suspect a frame...

    A frame balljoint nut removal

Read the threads on here regarding A frame balljoint removal and I can only conclude I'm doing something wrong! I cannot get a spanner or socket onto the balljoint nut. Socket just doesn't fit in at all. 30mm ring and open spanners don't fit either- fuel tank is in the way. Tried every possible...
