The bearings were changed with the right parts and fitted correctly. I had help from a mechanic who has spent lots of time under discos and has 30yrs+ exp. which is why it is puzzling me. Ill drop the box oil today. Just to see if it alleviates the sticky lever problem at all.

Mgw of a disco is approx 2.7t. Kerb weight is about 2 or 2.1t. With a steel body and tipping gear I think you'll be lucky for half a ton. That is if you don't overload the rear axle with 3/4 of the body behind the rear axle. You'll be blinding pilots if its loaded up.

Had £10k to spend on your landy, what would you do? You can't buy another one. You've got to spend it on the current vehicle. I'd completely rebuild mine and fit a tdv8 or other ample power plant!

Take the transfer box off first then gearbox. Will save a lot of hassle. If you have any decent lifting gear it will save your back.

Look at the terrafirma receiver hitches. Leaves a 2" box hole with a removable tovar plate which can utilised for other things too. It keeps it up out the way if you wanna do a bit of off reading too. I'm thinking of changing my Dixon bate to one of these.
