Disco 2 Allways having to enter AEK to get going.

When I bought the Disco, the plips were very knackered - so I bought a pair of new bodies and batteries from eBay and swapped them over - but half the time you have to really press hard to get them to operate. If I could find a supplier of very high quality, perfect fit replacement bodies then...

Disco 2 Allways having to enter AEK to get going.

I've downloaded the Nanocom instructions - reason for disabling is a pair of plips that are intermittent despite replacing the bodies and secondly an ignition barrel that has problems getting the key in and out. Removing the immobiliser will give one less thing to worry about. Will be up in...

Disco 2 Allways having to enter AEK to get going.

Sorry, yes - someone mentioned earlier in the thread that a Nanocom could disable the immobilizer but didn't explain how - so I was trying to get the specific instructions on how to do it. In another part of the thread someone was asking about anyone local having a Nanocom to help out - I was...

Does anyone have the specific instructions on how to disable the immobilizer on a d2 please And if anyone is near Sherborne in Dorset, I have a TD5 nanocom to assist :)

    Disco 2 Steering Box Gamble.

I just replaced mine with a secondhand one from a Disco with 80k miles (mine has 160k) and it turned out perfect - can't believe the difference that it made to the steering. I also picked up a new steering damper from eBay for £4 so I put that on too :)

Rear subframe welding - do I have to remove the fuel tank (diesel)

Sorry, yes, chassis - I was discussing Mercedes subframes earlier and got confused :) It looks as though the chassis forward of the towbar mounts has had a lot of work done on it already with at least 2 sides being plated so I really don't want to drop the tank unless I really have to. It just...

Rear subframe welding - do I have to remove the fuel tank (diesel)

The bottom of my rear subframe behind the tow bar mounting points is looking a little sad along the bottom face - it looks as though it has actually split. On the other side (forward of the towbar mounts) it's solid one one side and the other side has already been repaired. It's quite a long...

    Td5 oil

I have had these conversations on many car forums over the years. I think it's true to say that no car has ever failed due to the quality of oil used (supermarket v Mobil 1 etc) but many have failed due to lack of oil changes.

    Disco 2 TD5: Replace exhaust mid-section - pros/cons

I'm the other way around - had a straight thru pipe, hated the noise, put the original silencer back on and noticed no difference whatsoever :) Except it's a lot quieter LOL Now I have a centre pipe for sale cheap :) (Dorset)

Disco 2 SRS light after steering wheel change

What about mapping - I see Nanocom can upload a new map to the ECU - will Hawkeye (can't see any mention of this feature on their site)

Disco 2 SRS light after steering wheel change

Will Haweye Total do as much as Nanocom?

Disco 2 SRS light after steering wheel change

Are all Nanocoms the same - I mean if it says Discovery will it cover all years and models of D2 Petrol/Diesel or does it have to be specific?

Disco 2 SRS light after steering wheel change

I just cancelled the iCarsoft - so now looking for something else - £500 for a nano is out of the budget I'm afraid

Disco 2 SRS light after steering wheel change

Of the 4 readers listed - can anyone give me an approximate price for each please? I can then research the most cost effective.

Disco 2 SRS light after steering wheel change

I just bought the iCarsoft LR2 - hopefully that will tell me what is wrong. Yes, I did know to leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes before working and also to ALWAYS place the airbag down with the plastic part to the top :) OK, so it's a current fault so I will need to do some diagnosis.

Disco 2 SRS light after steering wheel change

I've got a code reader coming on Saturday so hopefully that will let me know - I didn't know if a disconnect and reconnect would illuminate the lamp which then needed to be switched off using a reader.

Disco 2 SRS light after steering wheel change

So I am refurbishing my Discovery 2 and have replaced the seats and steering wheel and having put it all back together, I now have an SRS light illuminated on the dash. When I replaced the seats, I reused the existing pretensioners and made sure the yellow plugs were reconnected. On the...

Disco 2 CSI Leaky roof edition.

Just to add a bit extra to the thread - I recently purchased a 2000 Disco 2 which was cheap as the headlining was hanging down in sheets. So I naturally assumed leaking sunroofs. After an interior strip I found that all of the drain pipes had been expertly repaired and the sunroofs were both...
