    Yes is it possible -- as mentioned, Mark Evans did a Defender 100" hybrid built on a Range Rover Classic chassis (almost identical to Discovery chassis). Google 'A 4x4 is Born', he shows you all the important parts of getting a Defender body to sit on the 100" chassis.

    Another question... Are Defender and Discovery 300 Tdi flywheel housings the same? Mine is slightly damaged (chipped) and I want to replace it before fitting the engine. ... James? :D

    Due to different tuning on the injection pump as opposed to turbo positioning. Turbos are all in the same place on 300s, and are the other way round than a 200 turbo, i.e. exhaust outlet faces towards the front of the engine.

    IIRC that's only on 200s, 300s are all the same across Defender/Disco/Rangie (with exception of aforementioned EDC bollix)

    Does the injection pump look like THIS or THIS? If first one, 122bhp with EDC, if second one, 111bhp with no EDC.

    Dunno where that came from, but my engine is definitely a 23L, and definitely has the manual type injection pump. Realised that the EDC (fly by wire) pump looks totally different to the mechanical one haha

    Yeah just worked this one out by asking my mate who has a 300 manual Disco :D As far as I know these are the codes for 300s; Serial code prefix: 16L (non EGR), 23L (EGR), 24L (EGR Auto) Defender 17L/18L (EDC Manual), 19L/20L (EDC Auto), 21L (EGR Manual), 22L (EGR Auto) Discovery/Range...

    Just a quick thought, seeing as the new engine is a 1997 model from a manual Defender, will it have the electronic EDC stuff on it? If so, what are the implications of fitting it to an older vehicle? Cheers all

    Yeah, ill get a chance to do this on Wednesday when I drag the 200 & Lt77 out of the workshop and drag the 300 & R380 in. Will take pictures and make note of the differences and post them here for future reference. ;)
