    Disco 1 Improved performance?

i almost don't want to post this because every time I think my 300 tdi disco is running nice, something goes wrong with it and it breaks down. But, for the last few weeks it has seemed quite a bit more responsive and powerful than usual. I haven't done anything to it, except changed the timing...

Will any Land Rover wheels will fit?

Yes, the tyres have tubes in them. I'll take one of the wheels off tomorrow and have a look for the number.

Will any Land Rover wheels will fit?

Thanks, yes, there's no way an alloy would fit over the grease cap. So would any steel Land Rover wheels fit? I've got to be careful of width because of the mud guards on the trailer.

    300 Tdi Rebuild

An army mechanic I know says they use a 15mm long socket on an extension bar to line clutches up.

Will any Land Rover wheels will fit?

I've got a decent size trailer that I want to do up and use, but the tyres are all well perished. I'm trying to source replacements. The tyres on at the moment are 6.00 - 16 c. The wheels look like old Land Rover wheels. From the photos, can anyone tell me which Land Rover wheels might fit...

What have you done to your Landie today.

I finally got round to fixing my reversing lights after putting it off for four years! Now I know why I put it off for so long! What a bitch of a job! My timing belt was easier and probably quicker, too! Discovery 300 tdi, manual gearbox. I'd bought a new switch, but after taking the old one...

Disco 1 200TDI Slow to start, almost stalls when returning to idle, power loss

On an old motor, there's all sorts of **** and a lot of water in the fuel tank and sedimentor. Keep the sedimentor, but take it off and give it a proper clean. Replace the rubber seal before you put it back on. Completely drain your fuel tank to get rid of the water. Fit a new fuel filter...

    D1 intermittent ABS fault

My abs light used to do all sorts of weird things until I changed my rear discs. Taking the abs ring off and cleaning it and the actually sensor seems to have cured it. Maybe you need to do the same on your fronts?

300tdi crankshaft puley bolt - Urgent

Screwfix do a water pump spanner for about £2.50 that does the job, although it says 22mm on the packaging!?

    300 Tdi Rebuild

Ha ha, I've got one, lol I was just tightening it up as much as I could before using the torque wrench, seeing as how tight it was on and all I've read about people struggling to tighten them up. When it started to move, I didn't see the point in using it. Maybe I'll check tomorrow to see...

    300 Tdi Rebuild

I wasn't using a torque wrench so I don't know at what point things started to move. I was on my own with the car in 1st gear, low range, diff lock with the hand brake on. I didn't have someone to stand on the brakes, so could have been the hand brake slipping, even?

    300 Tdi Rebuild

Oh agent a clue, I just tightened it until I couldn't tighten it any more. I couldn't use a torque wrench because it started moving. I used thread locker on it and I'm going to make a pulley licking tool soon so I can check it.

    300 Tdi Rebuild

Yes, did that, bit the clutch started slipping in the end. I'm just hoping that the torque required to make the clutch slip is enough!

    300 Tdi Rebuild

I did the breaker bar and ignition key method to undo my crank nut when I did the timing belt recently. Takes second. The problem arises when it's time to tighten it back up!

    300 Tdi Rebuild

My 300 tdi is a disco and you can't get to the top bell housing bolts very easily! You can't even see them. I struggled for ages trying to slide my gear box back, then found I'd missed one bolt right at the top. I left that one out when I put it back together because it was so difficult to reach!

Disco 1 New Discovery next week

That's a great motor. Enjoy it and enjoy looking after it. No other vehicle will try harder for you'

    300 Tdi Rebuild

Bad luck with the engine. I thought they were bomb proof. I'll be following this thread because I love my 300 tdi and won't let it die! It's all good now, but there might come a time when I need to rebuild it.

Disco 1 Power steering and puddles.

Relatively new. Been like it for about 6 months, lol

Disco 1 Power steering and puddles.

If I drive through any sort of puddle, I lose power steering for a few seconds. It's like the belt gets wet and slips, but I've had a good look and can't see where water is getting to any of the pulleys. Has anyone else had this? I'm thinking worn belt or tensioner, hopefully the belt!
