2 EHN,Ether Hexyl Nitrate.
1mm per litre of fuel.
Ebay about £50 per 5 litres.
Givs a bit more poke and easier starting.

Millers diesel eco-max (or whatever it's currently called) always seems to make my old 19J run a bit smoother and quieter.

The millers stuff is watered down 2 EHN and a few other bits that burn well.

Low ash 2-stroke is all you need. It also protects everything in the fuel lines and injectors. I don't measure accurately, but around 300ml every fill up even if just a top up. Only use mineral oil 2-stroke, not synthetic. Comma is your best bet since it's a green colour and not red like most others. No confusion with red diesel by thick rozzers.

Here in Ireland, many operators use a product called Dipetane. I think it's Irish made and, according to the label, it's not an additive but a fuel treatment. It's 100% hydrocarbon, which it is claimed cleans the fuel system, petrol or diesel. Users sware that it's great for reducing emissions, and is used a lot before NCT (MOT) to work it's magic.
I always use for a couple of weeks before the NCT is due and, I have always been well within the emissions limits. Clearly, that's not to say that it wouldn't have passed anyway, but for a few quid it's got to be well worth it.

i use diesel-rhino 'cause it were recommended by the fleet mechanics
when i worked for a trucking outfit in the u.s.a. ( late 70's )
was .. and is .. known as 'diesel-aid' over there ..
was going by the same brand name here in the uk .. 'till they changed the name ..
and reformulated it slightly
combats water in the fuel system
adds lubrication
adds cetane
combats diesel bug
keeps internal seals in good condition
keeps the fuel system clean
i've 137k miles on the odometer
yet to have any issues with injectors or h.p.fuel pump ( original injectors 'n pump )
motor runs smooth 'n sweet ..
( am using regular diesel fuel )

I use the Millers stuff and it definitely makes the engine smoother and quieter, I had high hopes for the 2 stroke oil, but it did sod all!
I have started putting a full tank of Shell Nitro V+ in mine every third tank. Whilst its more expensive fuel, it contains the same ingredients and more than the fuel additives at a £5 a pop and if you factor in the triple shell reward points it actually turns out a lot cheap than buying additives. I have noticed a significant reduction in soot emissions out the back on starting, which is why I started buying it in the first place.

No, not the unleaded as well, just the 2 stroke oil. Only about 1/4 bottle every few months

Thanks for the advice chaps. I've only ever used redex from time to time.
Asking about it seems the consensus (easiest) is using better grade diesel.
Local to me I have the usual supermarkets, asda, tesco, Morrisons.
Any preference?

I use Millers with Morrison's diesel, because that's the closest to me, but their diesel really is bad quality. I feel a massive difference when I use BP Ultimate. Faster response and improved mpg. Tend to use it every third tank.

I use Millers too, because it is protective of old DPA injection pumps. Cant say I have noticed any problems with Morrisons diesel, though, or their petrol either. I just use what I am passing.
